My 4-year-old started a really bad stomach flu in our home. It was a weird one. She had bad tummy aches during the day and would throw up all night long for 4 nights in a row. She ate a little during the day, but would be sick again at night. I had about a week break then my 18-month-old got it. She has been sick for 4 nights now and is miserable during the day. Has anyone heard of this going around and how have those people had it? I'm just wondering how common or uncommon this is. I get very stressed out with the stomach flu. I like to know what to expect and if adults are getting it.
I just wanted to tell everyone who responded thanks for your sympathy and advice. It got me through my second child with it. She is finally better after 4 long nights and a few really bad days after. She is eating better and acting better. I just have to wait now to see if anyone else gets it. At least my baby is better, who is the hardest one to have with it. Thanks again! H.
Hello... My 7 year old had this... I hurt for the both of you... the best thing to do is not feed them to much during the day. Give them a very little liquids.... It will pass.....
i don't know how far you are from bakersfield, but there has been something nasty going on here. it all started when my son hurled all over the kitchen floor. then i got it and then my husband got it. luckily my daughter didn't. my husband had it for about 4 days and that was the longest. check with your doc and see what they say.

I have a 4yr old and a 2yr old. Both of the boys and myself had the stomach flu. My youngest only threw up 1x but he had diarhea for about 5 days. My oldest threw up more. We all had a fever. I didn't throw up at all. I was just wipped out with a fever more then anything. Hopefully this will all pass soon for you and you can get some sleep again.
Interesting. We have 5 kids in our house. 3 are mine and 2 are my best friends. They all got the same thing, at the same time give or take a few days. Lets just say we were washing bed sets for weeks!! But neither of us adults got it. I got a nasty cough and cold, and she got the same but neither of us got the stomach flu like our kids. I have no idea what caused it, it lasted a few nights and then they were fine. They would feel fine during the day and then start a fever before bed, then throw up all night. I cant tell you anything about it or what to so. All I can do is sympathize, and let you know that yes, its happened. I just made sure they had plenty of electrolytes to rehydrate them. MY older kids wouldnt drink pedialyte, so they got gatorade! Thats the main worry is dehydration. Other than that, unless it lasts longer than a few days, or their fever runs higher for more than 24 hours, it should pass and they will be fine. You might want to take your baby to the doctor though, since she has been sick for 4 nights it could be something completely different too since its been a week. But if she is still sick tomorrow you might want to think about taking her in. Is she going potty ok? Peeing enough? Eating? Most importantly drinking plenty of water? My twin 14 month olds have the flu. Mostly it has been diarrhea, loss of appetite, unhappiness and clinginess during the day, etc. One of them has been vomiting at night. We saw their pediatrician yesterday, and he said to stick with pedialyte and the BRAT diet (bananas, rice or rice cereal, applesauce, and dry toast/crackers) for a few days. No dairy. I've felt "off" - headaches, fatigue, nausea but no vomiting for about a week. Good luck. I hope your little ones feel better soon.
Our whole family has had it as well. My 18 month old son started with vomitting all night long, but just for one night. Then he had diahrea for a week. I had vomitting all day and night, but just one day also, but no diarhea. My husband had nausea, but no vomitting, more like the regular flu. Everyone I know has gotten it, it is extremely rampid right now. I would be very clean and cautious when using grocery carts and such right now to avoid getting sick. It's not pleasant. I'm sorry to hear your family had it so many days in a row. Good luck avoiding it.
There is a stomach flu going around rght now. With little ones the important thing is to make sure they do not get dehydrated from the fluid loss of vomitting and diarrhea. Pedialyte is available at most grocery stores and is good to keep their electrolytes balanced. Watch for a dry tongue, decreased or dark urine or sunken eyes. Small sips every 15 mins is best for keeping the fluids down- nothing acidic - h*** o* the tummy (O.J. for example) and noting sugary- makes diarrhea worse. The best diet is a BRAT diet- bananas, rice, applesuce and dry toast.
