Stomach to Upset to Eat

I am about 2 months pregnant and I'm having trouble eating. I get real sick to my stomach when I try to eat. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on things that might have helped you with morning sickness. This is my 6th pregnacy and I have never had this problem. I am also so tired I just sleep, having trouble staying awake. I have never had morning sickness before so I'm not use to this. So any advice would be great.

What can I do next?

Hi C., I'm 3 months pregnant (number 3), and am too suffering bad morning sickness. I was sick with my other two, but not as bad. The one thing I am finding is that I need to eat a little portion of protien with each meal. For my, cottage cheese has been a staple. Everything else just makes me feel terrible. I also tried taking probiotics (not endorsed by my doctor) which seemed to help with the digestion end of things. The foods I absolutely have to avoid are most veggies (especially raw, too hard to digest) and garlic. Anyway, I know everyone is different, but hopefully you will find relief soon. Although, I do feel somewhat better than I did a couple of weeks ago, I'm still waiting to be able to eat "normally" again. Good luck and congratulations!

Hi C.,

I am almost three months now and I have found that Preggie Pops have helped me. They sooth my tummy so that I can eat. They taste great and are made from natural ingredients. You can find them at baby stores, like babies r us and such.

Hi C.,
You are an amazing mom! I'm sorry you are feeling so sick. I had terrible "morning" sickness (at night) and ended up on Zofran because I wasn't able to eat anything. The meds worked and after the first trimester I didn't need them. I heard that acupuncture worked well and so I made an appointment. Unfortunately, she failed to show up and I kind of gave up and took meds. Fresh ginger tea did help as did those preggie pops. My doctor (also my uncle-in-law) told me to look on the bright side as it meant the pregnancy was very strong. Hang in there and I hope you have help with house and kids. :)

Hi C.,

I feel your pain. Morning sickness is not any fun!! What helped me a lot is very small, frequent meals (6 per day). Remember BRAT

Bland food like bananas
Rice
Apple sauce
Toast

Keep crackers by your bed and a glass of water. When you get up in the morning eat a few before getting out of bed- whether you feel hungry or not-- it will help tremendously. Also,
drink lots of water-- that will help. I hope you feel better soon and congratulations on your new arrival coming!

I've been around a lot of pregnant women, so I have quite a list:
preggie pops, ginger chews (though too many can have the opposite effect), green apples, the BRAT diet, take prenatals at night rather than morning, saltines, peppermint tea, just going for short walks to get fresh air, nap when possible, and what worked best for me were Seabands. You can find them in the drug store with motion sickness pills. Doctors have found a correlation between the causes of motion sickness and morning sickness in women, so I've even been told Dremamine, but I would check with your doctor first! The seabands are just worn on your wrists and have a little button that adds a little tension to a pressure point. They didn't make my nausea completely go away, but definitely enabled me to get through my days!
