Hi! My husband and I just started ttc. I was in the middle of week 2 of my pills when I quit taking them. Four days later I started bleeding. I am bleeding more then what I normally would during my periods. Just wondering if anoyone else has experienced this and could tell me if it is normal. Also, does it count as a period or what? And, would it still occur if I was pregnant? Please let me know. Thanks so much.

What can I do next?

It will take awhile to get back to normal and you will just have to wait until then. In the future, you shouldn't stop a pill in the middle of the cycle. You should finish out the month and stop there, it will be much easier on your system. good luck!

This is normal...

You typically should not just "stop" taking the pill mid cycle as the pill is a hormone supplement that tells your body not to release an egg or 'tricks' your body into thinking you are already pregnant depeidnig on they type of birth control you use.

When you take the pill as normal, the last week of pills (often a different color than the rest) are a placebo- or a sugar pill; they contain no hormone which then tells your body that there is no baby inside and it is safe to go ahead and shed the 'fluff stuff' that builds all month in your uterus.

When you stop taking your pill, the hormone stops and similar to the placebo pill effect, your body thinks it is safe to go ahead and shed - which is why you got your period "early" - but according to your hormone dosage (which is non if you stop taking the pill) your period is on schedule.

The reason you could be experienceing a heavy period is simply because your body is not used to such a drastic hormonal change. Many pill types start off with a low hormone the first week, then heavier the 2nd week and change again in week 3 so by stopping your pill mid-way you've simply confused your body.

Put your worries to rest though, this will not harm you or your ability to conceive. You may bleed again when it is your "normal" period time and may experience very irregular blood flow for the next couple months until everything is "normal" again.

If you are like me- your period may stop all together (therefore indicating that you are PREGGERS!!!)

It is very normal. Once you mess u those hormones things can go crazy. I do not think that you are pregnant. Be prepared for an abnormal period or two after this. Chart your cycle and good luck trying to get pregnant.

HI What is ttc? Anyway, This is completely normal! When you take the pill, it fools your body into thinking you are pregnant. The period week pills lack the pregnancy hormone, and you have a period during that week.So if you stop, like you did in week 2, you are going to "have a period" because the pills are not telling your body you are pregnant. So, Yes, if you do not start the pills again, this counts as your period. This also may be good for your chances of conception, because your cycle is somewhat regulated while you are on the pill. GOOD LUCK!!!!
