Suggestions on Excercise or Yoga to Do with My Four-year-old Daughter

Hi Mamas, does anyone know of a really good dvd I can get so I exercise with my daughter? I used to walk on a regular basis, but it's been hard to accomplish this with my little one. So I'm thinking that an exercise or yoga dvd that we can enjoy together might do the trick, especially on days when we can't go outside. I'd really like to set a good example for her so that she will view being active as a fun and important part of her life (not that she isn't active all on her own...:)) I'd really appreciate any suggestions.

What can I do next?

Go to Wai Lana's website. She has an award winning video for kids yoga. She also has an adjoining book which is just as good if you don't do screen time. My daughter LOVES it & has been using it for a year and a half now & often does the poses from the book on her own. (She is three). I enjoy the book especially bc. it tells me the therapeutic value of each pose. (eg. lion pose is good when you have a cold to stimulate the throat chakra). I find they tandem well together. Ok I've said enough. I don't want you to think I'm affiliated or anything. One last thing, I gave them out as presents two Christmases ago to other parents & kids in our family bc. we were just having so much fun & it is such a healthy habit to learn.

Check out your local library. Many have videos you can check out for free, including exercise videos. Go with your daughter and pick a couple that look fun (dance workouts, yoga, kick boxing - my kids loved that one!) and try them. If you hate them, take them back with no expense, and if you love them you can think about buying them. I would try a few before buying any. (Actually, the best thing for calorie burning and muscle building is to change your routine regularly so that you're muscles are doing new things).

I love the exercise ball. I got the ball and tape for myself and got one of those bouncing (you know the ones that have the holder on the top and they can bounce up and down) balls for my son. he could do the same ball exercise I did but the ball wasn't so big. Good luck.

Gaiam has a few Kids Yoga videso for ages 3-6. We have a couple of them and my daughter likes them, though we haven't watched them in a while!

I just checked their site and it looks like they also have a Family Yoga DVD. That might be good!

I got the ones we have from Wal Mart. You might even be able to find them at your library and try them first (or any others you find there!)

I have a 4-yr old too. When the weather is decent, we go out and she rides her bike - and I basically have to jog to keep up. Works out great!!
