Suggestions to Clean a Fabric Purse

I have a light colored purse that I haven't used in a while but I'd like to. It's a nice summer purse. It's a fabric purse, not leather. I noticed it has some dirty spots on it and I'm trying to figure out the best way to clean it. My husband suggested just throwing it in the washer, but I'm not so sure. It does have leather (or faux leather) bottom and straps. It's probably a Relic or Rosseti or something similar from Penny's. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

I would put it in a large zippered lingerie bag or pillow case depending on it's size and wash it on a gentle cycle and hang it to dry.

On a fabric purse? I would do one of two things -

1. throw it in the washing machine on delicate and hang dry.
2. take it to a dry cleaner and have them clean it.

If you see the brand name inside the purse? Relic (fossil) and Rossetti have websites that offer tips on cleaning...

Good luck!

When I'm not sure about throwing it in the wash machine, I use one of two different methods - depending on the fabric:

1) just use a bathroom sink and fill it with warm water and soap and wash it by hand (might need to use a little scrub brush); or,

2) use baby wipes - they're amazing at spot cleaning a lot of stuff!! (I use them to spot clean my couch all the time!)

Good luck!!

Try using an upholstery cleaner on it.

I would use a spot upholstery cleaner on it as Marda P. suggested. Allow it time to air dry in the sun preferably to help get any scent out as well. Purses can get kinda musty smelling when stored

If you try an upholstery cleaner make sure you rinse with vinegar water to cut the soap. The soap will act as an adheisive and attract more dirt.

I would try baby wipes. You could also look for a website for the manufacturer and see if they have recommendations or contact customer service.

I have hand washed purses with regular clear laundry detergent (liquid), don't totally immerse it in water, just lightly rinse. dry outside
