I am looking for a good place to take my two kiddos for swim lessons. My son is 3 and my daughter is 16mos. I know that she just needs to get familiar with the water, but I want him to have some decent lessons before we hit the pool this summer. Does anyone have any suggestions? I was going to take them to Dale's, but they are no longer around. Thanks!

What can I do next?

The Matt Ross Community Center (roughly 80th and Matcalf) does lessons. The pool is amazing, zero-entry with fun fountains, etc., and you could introduce your daughter to the water while your son is in his class (although I think you'd have to pay to use the pool).

Hi C., I took both my boys to Lifetime Fitness. We are members, but they do open the swim lessons to non-members as well. Mrs. Ingrid was fantastic with my 3 year old.

I've also heard great things about the swim program with Blue Valley Parks and Rec. I've never taken a class but other friends have said they like it.

Cheers,
E.

My kids go to Johnson County Parks & Rec. They have lots of locations and different classes. Great instructors that are very patient!

I took my son to St. Luke's Center for Health Enhancement. They have a swim class for babies & toddlers. After they have completed the course they get a little certificate. It is a commitment. We went every Saturday morning for about 8 weeks. It's near the plaza so you can always find an excuse to go shopping or have lunch afterward if you don't live nearby. It's a good idea to have one adult per child. My son is not scared of the water at all. They did a great job!

I have taken my 3 year old daughter to the Sylvester Powell Community Center in Mission for the past 3 years. The first summer she was 9 months, then about 20 months and then about 2 1/2. She has done great and this year I plan on putting her in a class w/out me for the first time and doing the parent/child class with my 11 month old son. This place has worked well for us. Good Luck!
