Swim Lessons for a 4Yr Old

Hi S.. We have a 5 yr old daughter who takes swim lessons at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center. She is able to swim about 10 feet unassisted, float on her back, and retrieve an object under water. She's enrolled in Pre-school (ages 3-5) Level III. You can start your son in Level I or II. They have a good program there. They also offer private lessons. Good luck.

Another one for the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center. My daughter has a fear of the water, but the instructors are very patient, and she has really improved since she started. The pool is heated, and they have tons of classes for summer. We are very happy there.

I had a great one, Ms. Lucy, in Rancho Palos Verdes, but ever since we moved to Calabasas I can't have my youngest take lessons with her. She teaches from her home and has a nice, heated, salt-water pool. That said, my 51/2 yr old figured it out on his own, now he swims like a fish and is very comfy in the pool. If you or another family member can get in with him and teach him basics you will see how quickly they learn. I ended up saving a bunch of money this time, I guess, lol!

The Rose Bowl Aquatic Center is fairly reasonably priced. I'm taking my son to infant group lessons right now which are fairly large. But when I walk by the preschool age lessons and they are much smaller. So they are not quite private, but your son would get some one-on-one attention.

Loma Alta Recreation has classes - run in Altadena through the parks and rec department. I am sure that Pasadena and South Pasadena have programs too.

The children next door learned to swim at the YMCA in pasadena - you might also check their programs out.

I too have heard marvelous things about Rose Bowl Aquatics center. These other options are less expensive, though.
