Westchester YMCA is great. Classes for a 7 month old are parent and me classes. The pool is indoors so it's good and bad, you can swim all year and not wear sunscreen but, the chlorine is very strong. Other than the chlorine, i love it.
I'm looking for a place on the west side (preferably Playa del Rey/MDR/Westchester/Manhattan Beach) for swim lessons for my 7-month old. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

there are mommy & me classes at west los angeles community college. LMU has some too but they are only during the summer.
Hi J.. Check out infantswimresource.com for teachers and classes in that area.
We just started swim classes for our 21 month old at Southbay Aquatics (on Artesia Blvd in Redondo Beach) and, except for my unhappy little swimmer, everything else there seems great. One aspect of it that I really like is that it's an indoor facility so I don't need to worry about sunscreen...
i take my 16 month old to the YMCA in Westchester. the classes are very reasonable and the instructors are great. and they take all ages!
Maybe you could check out your local YMCA
I've been really happy with the YMCA in Westchester. Love that the pool is heated and indoors...the instructors are terrific and I don't think the chlorine is strong at all. I have really sensitive skin and it hasn't bothered me a bit. Also, they have open pool hours every day when you can bring baby by for more practice...we missed one of our lessons because my son had a rough night and needed an earlier nap, so we just came for recreational swimming later in the day and practiced the same things we had learned in class. Good luck!
Have fun!
Hi J.,
The Westside Jewish Community Center is slightly further north than the neighborhoods you mentioned, but they just renovated their Aquatic Center (beautiful saltwater pool) and the Lenny Krayzelburg Swim School is offering lots of great programming for babies, toddlers and children. If you're interested, I'd be happy to send you their contact info.

Hi check out Westchester YMCA, it's great!
South Bay Aquatics School. My 4 year is taking lessons there and it is great. Small group class size (my daughter and one other usually in class). They teach survival first, learning to float, but do fun stuff to, to get comfortable with the water. The pools are kept warm and they are indoors and the ambient temp in the pool area is warm too, so they can take year round and you don't have to worry about a cold child. They have mommy & baby class options too. Lots of classes during the week, but also on Saturdays, those just fill up more quickly.
