Coon Rapids Allina Medical Clinic has a good bunch of Peds. You could just try one there until you find one that fits your needs.
I am considering switching pediatricians but I'm not sure how to go about it. When I chose the one my kids are going to now it was based on location and it's the doctor that performed both of their circumsions in the hospital so we just went with him. Now since I stay at home with my boys I would like someone close to our house. Does anyone have any recommendations for a pediatrician in the Coon Rapids area? Also, if I go meet with new doctors what should I be asking them? I would like someone who isn't going to rush us out the door. That's another reason for me wanting to find a new doc. Right now if I have questions he just answers them quickly and tries to get out the door as fast as possible. I understand there are other patients to see but I would like a little more TLC I guess. Thanks for the help, ladies!

I love my doctor He is great Its a little far Its in Robbinsdale but its worth the drive for me I have had him for 2 years and he always makes time to talk His name is Bruce Cantor at PIP the number is ###-###-####
I switched a year ago when we moved from MInneapolis to Ramsey. We currently go to Columbia Park Medical Group in Andover (Hanson an Bunker Lake). We actually see a family practice doc there, but we have seen some of the pediatricians there as well. A few times I wasn't able to get in for a same day appt. with our regular doc, but had no problem getting into a pediatrician.
As far as questions to ask, if you look at the "What to expect when you're expecting" book, there is a whole section with all sorts of questions to ask...a few biggies for me are availability of same day appointments, and continuity of care (seeing the same doctor all the time for me and my 2 children).
It should not be a problem to switch doctors. Check with your insurance agency, see which doctor groups are covered by them and if you need to designate a primary for your children (you probably don't need to). I switched MD groups for my 2-yr old daughter 3 times, had no problems. Just make an appt at the new office, they will obtain the records from the old place. We are currently going to Columbia Park Medical Group on Zane Ave in Brooklyn Park (somewhat near to you). They are fine - very competent, but have had high turnover in Peds MDs since we've been there. Good luck to you!
Our kids doctor is actually in Brooklyn Center (we live in Coon Rapids) but I have had him since my since my son was born almost 10 years ago. He is at the Park Nicollet Clinic. He is very thorough and good with the kids. He also tells you what he thinks is best like breast feeding, but if you choose to go a different way he will help you with that as well. He doesn't try to shove his point of veiw down your throat. Check him out, I think he's great. His name is Dr. Alward

My kids go to the Coon Rapids Medical Clinic, which is now the Allina Medical Clinic on Springbrook Drive in Coon Rapids. It is a great place - usually easy to get in, very organized, professional, etc. My boys see Dr. E and he's great (my boys are now teens. We go to this clinic for almost all of our medical needs. They have many specialists in the same building - physical therapy, allergy, speech therapy, family practice, endocrinology, lab, etc. etc.
My Family practice Dr. Melissa Craig is moving to Coon Rapids Allina Clinic. I love her, it will be a 25 min drive with two children under two and I am following her. You should try her. She starts in Aug and is pregnant so she might take a couple of weeks off when she has her babies. Good luck on your search having a Dr you feel comfortable with is really important!
