I think that's awesome! I'm also a teacher. :)
This is our first year with a child in school, and I'm feeling self conscious about the gift we're giving my daughter's teacher tomorrow. I didn't really know what to get for her. We've purchased gifts for daycare providers in the past, but somehow you get to know them a bit more personally, and although they're SO important in our child's life, there's something about what her teacher does for her that I feel goes above and beyond. And this year, she's helped us through a few ups and downs with my daughter, and we're very grateful for such a dedicated and thoughtful teacher. So, I bought her one of those frames that has the word "faith" spelled out using different architecture or home decor (you know what I mean - ha ha). We go to a Christian school, I'm not so worried about the message, but more about if it seems too much. It was actually very inexpensive, and it looks great. What other ideas have you had? Do you think (despite the cost being low) that I went overboard with a large gift? I'm just not sure what's considered inappropriate, or if it's really just up to the parents. I'm sure this is not a big deal, but it's nice to hear others' thoughts. Thanks for your help, Moms!!

Its a great gift idea! I love those frames (and yes, I am a teacher)!
BTW Mamas, I received my first and maybe (two hours of school left) only gifttoday. School ends tomorrow. I got it from one of my most shy students. She and I are so differrent as I HAVE THE BIGGEST PERSONALITY IN THE SCHOOL! She hugged and asked me for my (work) email address saying that she love how funny I made the class. I WAS SO SHOCKED THAT SHE WOULD DO THIS! She is soooooooooo shy!
Mamas, you don't know how good those cheap little gifts make us feel! This gift was from a dollar store (I recognized the packaging) but it touched my heart like you would NOT believe.
I'm not a teacher but I think that's awesome. Not overboard. Overboard is a 2 quart jar filled with Big Red gum, red trident, red washclothes, small bottle of asprin, small package of Kleenex, small bottle of hand sanitizer, package of candy, etc. They were completely full. There was stuff in the middle you couldn't see from the outside. I had 2 children in school. I had one themed in red and one themed in brown to coordinate with the teacher's favorite candy. One teacher was walking down the hall and saw the other teacher walking with his 2 qt jar and said, "you must have a (insert last name) in your class." Yep, he did. It cost 32 dollars for both jars. I loved doing it but it was probably overboard.
This sounds like a lovely gift! You did an excellent job in picking out something meaningful and my guess is that it will be treasured!
Great gift!! Perfect.
My kids teachers all got the gifts the kids bought for them from the school holiday store and a $5 Starbucks gift card. Bus drivers too.
Some schools have a policy about gifts, so check your handbook Typically, a photo frame would not be inappropriate.
Your gift sounds just fine. Please write the teacher a note about how much you appreciate her -- those are the best gifts of all.
I'm a teacher, and my favorite gifts (besides the personal notes, which I keep forever) are gift cards (to my favorite coffee shop, Target, B&N, etc.).
