C.,
I just gave my son's 2 preschool teachers $10 gift certificates to Wawa. I thought it would help with the price of gas.
Hi there everyone,
My son had some issues with potty training this year and the teachers were wonderful! They took him often, helped him change when he wet himself and helped us with a diary of when he pee'd and how much liquid he took. Anyway, i don't have tonnes of money to spend on 2 teachers, but i am looking for a good gift for them to say thank you. my thought right now is a gift certificate. i know from other teachers that they get too many little 'teacher' gifts (i can imagine them getting 20 per year every year!). Anyone got any ideas for something cool to give them?
Thanks!

Hi C.,
Gift certificates are great. As a teacher, I enjoyed using the certificates I received as well as the cards that gave true and sincere thanks for how I've impacted their childs' life. It truly is the thought that counts not the amount.
Hi C.!
My son and daughter are both graduating tomorrow from preschool. Their teachers have also been wonderful in helping. I am a working mom and my mom takes my kids to school for me and recently has had some medical issues. They help out by meeting my mom at the doors to get my son on days when he goes and my daughther doesn't. My daughter was also having some issues with potty training and they were wonderful in helping and letting us know when there was an accident. I am planning to give them and e-certificate tomorrow. Giftcertificates.com is one site, though there are others. There is a small charge for these, but I am not picking what they get with it, they are.
Good luck with your decision.

Hi C. I can't see what everyone wrote on my phone until I write so I may be repeating but I would like a gift card to starbucks or Barnes and nobles or a movie theater for whatever amount you could afford. N.
Gift cards are the best. All the teachers at my daughters school have loved them. I get them for Walmart, Target, barnes & nobles, Dunkin Donuts, where ever you want. It will get used.
Gift cards are the best idea. I usually get a gidt card to a book store or toy store so they can get things for their class room. I am a teacher and a mom.
I was once the teacher in this situation, where a little guy kept having accidents. He was 3. The parents set the cutest card, with a picture of a person in a ringed life perserver, the Front of the card said "You are a life Saver". I just got the biggest kick out of it. Maybe that will some how spark an idea for you.
Really just a nice note acknowledging the teachers extra effort is all that is needed. But a nice gift never hurts. Find out what their hobbies are and give a certificate.
Perfect! Spot on, C.!

I taught second grade for three years. In all those years, the best and most useful gift I recieved was a perennial flower. I believe I still have it because I planted it. Perennials can be as little as $5.00 a piece and when planted will last at least seven years. Of course, make sure that your teacher has at least a bit of interest in plants. But teachers who have summers off often spend quite a bit of time gardening. Some suggestions are shasta daisy, hollyhock, sweet william. These are all fairly hardy and easy to grow.
Good luck in your search!

I gave my son's day care teachers scented drawer sachets this past christmas. I found them in a pricey boutique but they were only $12 each. I didn't even wrap them because the store put them in a classly little paper bag with some tissue. The teachers loved them because they were different.
How about a gift card for Wawa or Dunkin Donuts - coffee warms the heart of many!
I would do either a gift card or a homemade treat. I am a pretty good baker and like to bake some rockin caramel brownies, or whatever. I did this for my daughters teacher and teachers helper for Christmas- they loved it.
Hi C.,
I know a few teachers, and as you suspected, they get KILLED with candles, mugs, magnets, etc. I would suggest a gift card for gasoline/grocery store/department store/restaurant of ANY amount you feel comfortable with. You can include a very nice card with a hand-written note expressing your thanks for the extra help--and you can tie it in to the gift card (some gas to get to school to keep helping more kids....relax and enjoy a bagel & coffee after all that potty-help!, etc) They will surely be most appreciative of a useful gift!
i usually give a nice plant or gift card .wawa is good with the price of gas everyone can use...T.
The magazine Family Fun which can be found on-line has some great and simple ideas. If you want to make a gift and include a gift card, you could make a bookmark and then get a gift card to a local bookstore, Other ideas can be found in the June 2007 issue of the magazine.
Hope this helps,
Jen
Something cute and spa-like for the bathroom since they helped with the potty! Mention in the card the connection...
I taught 1st grade for 7 years and have a big box of little gifts and stuff from my kiddies. I always liked anything coffee related, I'm a huge coffee drinker but everyone knew because I had a pot in the room. Live plants are nice. Most teachers of young children like fun pens, markers or stamp sets they can use at work, even stickers. Then they don't have to buy them on their own. Of course gift cards are great but not as personal. A hand written letter was usually my favorite, you usually only get complaints in letters. I still carry one in my wallet from about 6 years ago. It is great that you are showing your appreciation, teachers need it and your child will always benefit from a positive teacher parent relationship!
Hi!
As a teacher and a mother with a child in school, I can respond from both perspectives. I am not sure if this is too late to do or if you would feel comfortable doing it but getting all of the parents to chip in for a gift card is a great gift. That way the teachers aren't getting a million little things. Definitely don't do mugs, frames, candles, lotion, etc. A gift card is the best.
If your teachers like coffee, Starbucks is a nice treat, so a gift card there might be nice. Also some homemade treats from you and a card made by your son.
My daughter is a 4th grade teacher and you're right about an abundance of knick-knacks. The gift card is an excellant idea, how about Starbucks, Bath and Body, or a bookstore gift card.
A little note telling them just what an important part they've played in your sons life will be greatly appreciated. gifts, flowers, ect, will get lost or forgoten, but a truley heartfelt and sincere expressioin of your gratitude will be remembered forever! if you still want to get a gift, a gift card is a great idea. maybe for lunch or dinner?
