does anyone know if there are any childrens products like what they use at the dentist(the paste)they put on teeth to prevent cavities that is over the counter you can buy in a store somewhere? just curious if there is such a thing.
Are you talking about the sealants a dentist puts on a tooth to protect it? That is something only a dentist can do. You can get flouride in various products, that's a paste they brush on and you are told to not eat or drink for an hour so it can sit there.

Is this for a baby or an older child? Do you mean fluoride? Most city water is treated with fluoride and should provide the fluoride you child needs. If your not sure if your city water is treated with it, call an ask. Also, most dentist offices have a chart that tells them what areas that the city water is treated and which are not. There is kids fluoride mouthwash as well.
uh I dont know of any but the orajel training tooth paste is great thats what we use!

My dentist's office sells this stuff called M I Paste. It's not flouride, but it apparently strengthens teeth with milk protein and our pediatric dentist recommended it for the kids. You just smear it on their teeth. My kids love the taste of it. I don't think you can get it at the drugstore, but it's non-prescription and your dentist might sell it or know where to get it. Ask your dentist what type of brush he wants used that is electric. We bought the oral b because it goes around in circles. Then buy a flouride toothpaste like crest or colgate.

if you're talking about the fluoride, then if you live anywhere - other than rural- your public drinking water will provide what your child needs. Combine that with your basic fluoride toothpaste, & your child is covered.
Any overabundance of fluoride can be detrimental & even harmful to humans. I worked for a dentist who believed in daily fluoride rinses....until he repeatedly broke bones. His physician explained that the overdosing of fluoride had caused damage to his bone structure. As with any supplement, you need to be very aware of the dangers. I recommend you speak directly with your dentist & check with your water source before proceeding!
