no worries, just roll with it. I know when my son stops eating that teeth are bugging him. I know he is going to be ok with the little he eats and nursing.
NO need to try to force it..you can keep offering it and you will be able to read her cues if she is ready.
I also learned that this was a good time to try a new food- variety sometimes helped my son to eat when his teeth hurt...he was more curious to try something he had not seen before:)

There's no need to force eating. It's normal for her to not eat when her teeth hurt. The best thing to do is nurse, nurse, nurse and offer but don't force food. She'll be feeling better soon and will start accepting your offers at that point. She will not let herself starve. Babies are great at living by their body's signals.

Babies (and kids) (and me!) don't eat the same amount of food consistently. Some days we eat a lot, then our appetite drops for a few days, then a growth spurt comes on and they eat up again, then they're way full and become more focused on other things (crawling! walking! ooh so fun, who wants to stop and eat?! also, ouchy gums too.)

Bottom line is, your tot is not going to starve herself, and sounds like she normally eats a good amount so good for her to ease up on the food every once in a while!

That said, if she really isn't eating (and needs to) then try cold stuff. I throw frozen fruit, add scoop of lemonade powder (or use OJ for an even healthier option), add bananas, whatever fruits you have. Give it a whirl in the blender, pour into popsicle trays (or icecube trays or those little bathroom sized paper cups) and then let your kid gnaw on it.

(I also make plain ice popsicles for mouth owies of any kind.)

Frozen yogurt is good too. Of course with an 8mo, you gotta watch and make sure they're sitting at the high chair while they're gnawing and munching the frozen fruit or yogurt or whatever.

Also, you can wet a corner of a good thick washcloth and freeze it. Then the cold corner soothes their gums like a cold teething ring, and the rest of the washcloth is great for their drool!!!
(And it doesn't stain like a fruit pop will!)

Teething tablets .. .Humphries are the only ones that work for my son. They work so well that i tried it on my sore gums after a dentist apt and it was a miracle!!! No pain!!!! I'd try those. I found these tablets and Walgreens.

My daughter loved those little net safety feeders with frozen fruit, vegetables, or little frozen blocks of pureed protein (beans, liver, chicken) to gnaw on.

Also, I agree with treating the discomfort with teething tablets (or tylenol/motrin) and not worry too much about her not eating. She will let you know when she is ready. The extra saliva could also be upsetting her stomach.

A lot of little ones do not eat as much when they are teething. Are you treating the teething pain with some teething tablets? Is she still nursing or taking her formula? If so, I wouldnt worry about the supplemental food too much...continue to offer her the things that you know she likes and just wait for her appetite to pick back up again/
My 7 month old son loves to eat fresh fruit ( bananas, cantaloupe, avocado) and he is in the midst of teething...maybe something and cool would appeal to her. He also LOVES to chew on cold mini carrots...he doesn't actually eat them but they seem to sooth his gums.

We would put the teething gel on his gums about 10 minutes before eating.. Then he would eat cause the pain was gone. I also nursed him to 1 year and he started teething at 3.5 months, had all 16 teeth by 12 months.
