Help me please. My doughter is 11 months old she already has 8 teeth and now she is cutting 2 more. They are on the top I believe they are called the eye teeth. She is having a horrible time. She has had a runny nose for 2 weeks and now she is coughing but mostly only at night. It is not nothing unusual for her to cough so I am not worried about that. She just seems to be in so much pain and it is killing me. She just cries and cries. I have given her tylenol motrin oragel and teething tablets but none of the three seem to help. Can you please help me.

She has tubes in her ears. She got those at 6 months old but I do agree that it does also sound like ears.

What can I do next?

Have you had her checked for an ear infection? Given that pain relievers aren't working I would take her in and have her checked out.

My daughter had a horrible ear infection and never once pulled on her ears, no fever, just crying and upset. The only reason I knew something was wrong was I finally saw discharge on the outside of her ear and poor baby's ear drum had burst the night before!

You can also try freezing wet wash cloths and see if she will chew on those.

I agree with Dori...if nothing is helping, I bet it's something else besides teething. Especially if the Orajel and teething tablets aren't working. Those are never fails for me. I'd call your doc and have them take a look at her.

My daughter had the same symptoms when she cut her eye teeth for about the same amount of time. If you find out that it is just teething after a call to the pediatrician, someone recommended to me putting a dab of vanilla extract on the spot where the tooth is coming in. It helped my daughter! Not sure why....hope this helps some!!!

Hmmm...I agree to get her ears checked. Just to be safe. The eyeteeth ARE bears but all of that stuff should be bringing her some relief. Wet, fold and freeze baby washcloths in a stack in a Ziplock bag & let her gnaw on those. Poor thing. Hope she feels better soon.

Definitely time for a trip to your pediatrician... Doctors have said time and again that teething has nothing directly to do with cold symptoms... the only possible connection is that because there is an opening in the skin, bacteria and germs can get in easier... especially with babies who are putting EVERYTHING in their mouths. I've learned with my son that any time I can say he 'just cries and cries'... there's generally a problem that I'm not solving. Sounds like you've tried everything else, so give the doc a try! :D Good luck, hope she feels better soon!

Stop putting the orajel on her gum's. Orajel makes the gum's harder which causes more pain. I rubbed the motrin and tylenol directly on my son's gum's on the advise his ped and it worked much better than given it to him to swallow.

I think she is old enough for crushed ice. Our daughter used to stand by the firdge screaming for ice when she was teething. We bought bags of ice from Sonic. Hope your little one feels better soon.
