Hi momma's!
My 10mo little girl is trying to cut her top front teeth. I noticed today after picking her up from her sitter's house that the right side was purple. It's not terribly swollen or anything, it's just purple like it's bruised. Have any of you seen this before? I'm not sure what to do for her. Should I take her to the doctor?
Thank you so much for all of your responses. Her teeth haven't come in yet, but the purple on her gums went away - Praise God! That just freaked me out, because we never experienced anything like that with our first. Your responses really helped to ease my anxiety, so THANK YOU again!
My son had a horrible time with teething. This happened when he was about 9-11 months old, so I called the doctor, and she said it was perfectly normal .... and sure enough, it just went away one day. It's scary, but normal. All I can say is give her something cold to chew on and give her Highland Teething tablets ... they're Heaven on Earth! Good luck!

I didn't experience this with the front teeth, but we are getting molars now and they do make his gums looks bruised sometimes. I don't think that it is anything to worry about...it seems to come and go with us.
Totally normal my son when he was teething his two top teeth looked that way. He even got what almost looked like a scab on them. I was worried, but a couple of weeks later the teeth were out and everything was fine. His gums even bleed for a little while when the teeth were trying to break through.
None of my children (four) ever had purple on their cheek, so can't help you there. Swollen gums is all.
I work for a pediatric dentist. Teething is tough! Light purple is probably OK, but I would recommend taking her to a pediatric dentist. Sometime an eruption cyst or Hematoma can occur. I just think it would be best for a dentist to check it out! Good luck!
