Hi Moms...My daughter just turned 10 and received numerous gifts of money for her birthday. We are very adamant that she send thank you notes for her gifts but I am not sure how to say thank you for money. Any suggestions???

Thanks moms!

Best thing to say is:

Dear Miss Jane,

Thank you for celebrating my birthday and for the generous gift! I used it to buy (insert item here) that I've been wanting for a long time. (or I plan to use it towards...) Your thoughtfulness is sincerely appreciated!

Love,
Sally

Hi S.,
my daughter just had her 10th birthday and also received alot of money gifts. what we did was mention how appreciative she is and how generous the gift was.
also I took her shopping and got a few things she wanted so was able to include in the card what she purchased.
something like this:

Dear Megan,
Thanks for coming to my party hope you had a great time.
Thank you so much for the generous gift that was so nice of you, I wanted to let you know I bought a game for my ds with the money thanks again.

hope this helps

I bought a book about writing thank you cards many years back just for that reason. The appropriate way is to say "thank you for your generous gift. I was able to purchase x,y,z with it (or put it towards college, whatever)" Basically you want the gift giver to know what you did with the money.

I would just mention how appreciative she is and how generous the gift was. She might also want to mention what she plans on using the money for. If it's going into savings for future use, say so.

SAMPLE LETTER:

Dear Aunt Sally,

Thank you so much for the generous $25.00 you gave me for my 10th birthday! I really appreciate this because now I can finally buy that pretty pink sweater at Macy's that I've always wanted. Thanks Again!

I hope this helps.

Dear (person's name)..., Thank you for the.... generous gift certificate - or-generous gift of money. I am using it to save up for- or - I am so excited that I was able to buy (what???) with it. Then.....either...."thank you for attending my party" or "I hope that we get to see you soon (when???). Sincerely/Love/Thank You (pick one)....daughter's name. Short, sweet, handwritten.

Hi,
I always think its nice to mention maybe what she will use the money for. Like if she is saving up for a special doll or toy. Then the people know what she is going to get and that their money is going for something she really would like. If she doesn't know what she is going to buy then just say thanks for the generous gift and that it will go towards something special. Good luck!
