Thank You Cards from 3 Year Old

How about letting her decorate the paper you will use to make the note. A good idea for decorating is to use child safe paints and let her use them to make hand prints on the paper. This gives the receiver a special memento of the size and age of the child. Grandparents love this as later on they can show their grand kids how small their hands were later on in life.

My son just celebrated his third BDay and I had to do things different since he doesn't like to draw like my daughter does. She always paints/colors/etc original cards on cardstock and then I write the not inside. She tells me which card is going to which person. For my son however I did his hand print on a regular sized piece of paper, than I wrote the note and he put his stickers on it to decorate a little more. That way he was still part of the process.

How about putting her hand print on there with craft paint? Then you can write whatever message and her name under the print. That way is something personal from her. Hope this helps.

These are all great ideas! If you don't want to do a picture, I always use the wrapping-paper that the gift came in, cut into little squares as a collage. My little ones love to glue so that's how we do art for the first few years. Also, handprints or hand outlines serve as signatures inside the cards. I usually cut out the words "thank you" from actual thank you notes and put them in with the cut up squares. The kids love it and they are gorgeus cards!

You could take a picture of her wearing or playing with the gift to enclose in the note. Let her "write" her version of the note, and then you can add in yours.

One thing that we did was take pictures of our daughter with the gift that each child had given her, and made a thank you card with the picture included. She could probably use some stamps at this point too, which can be alot of fun. And then, after she has decorated each one to her liking, you could write the words needed. It is great that you are teaching her now the importance of gratitude. Have fun with this project. ~A.~

I love the idea of taking a picture of her with the gift, then she can either enclose it in a notecard that she "writes" in, or she can "sign" the back of the photo.

I once got a thank you card with the child's handprint on the card. That was cute too!

Most of the time, I had my little one put on bright lipstick and "kiss" the card. When she could make her first initial, we added that to the kiss. Now I cut out a tracing of her name and tape it where the name should be. Might add some X and O's or a hand print as an alternative.

I like to send personal photo cards from Shutterfly for Thank yous. You could either place a picture from the party or have your daughter pose with a hand-made Thank You sign. You can get fancy and do each one different or just send out the same one with different text. I like that they will send them out for you (and since she isn't going to sign them anyway it doesn't seem too impersonal) so that when you are done you don't have to think about it again. It costs around $1-1.50 each and if that is a little more then you want to spend then check out WinkFlash which is always cheaper--just not as many choices.

Take a snapshot of your daughter with each of her presents. Send the snapshot and a simple thank you to each person, they will love seeing her enjoy her new present.

I had my daughter hold a large piece of poster board we had painted with "Thank You!" on it. We used bright colors and let her paint smiley's on it and things. She held it at her chest level and we took her picture with a digital camera. We then printed it on postcards and had her sign it.

Write the words "Thank you" on the sidewalk in chalk, and take a pic of your daughter sitting near the words, then use that pic as a thank you card! Very cute!

I heard of a really cool idea where you take pictures of your daughter with each gift and send it in lieu of a card. Like if she got a book, send a picture of her reading it, or playing with a new toy or whatever. Hope this helps!

For my daughter's second birthday thank you notes I wrote the thank you and stamped her hand with pink paint. It turned out really cute and added the extra touch from her.

You can take a picture of her with the gift and a smile. Then she can try to atleast write the first letter of her name. Good Luck, L.

I usually use a picture of the birthday girl, either at her party or enjoying her new goods, and print it on postcards. Instead of using your own words, you can ask what she would like to say to "grandma" to thank her for the "scooter." You write down what she says verbatim. Then it really is from her!

Take a picture of her holding each gift with a white poster at the bottom that says "Thank you" or just a picture of her with a poster that says "Thank you for coming to my party". Then let her "write her name (with your help)" with a Sharpie at the bottom.

Make postcard with a picture of her holding a Thank You sign and have her color the back. Transribe what she colored on the back.

My friend has her daughter hold a sign that says "Thank You" and takes a picture of her. She then turns the photo into postcards and mails them to all the guests. It's very cute!

How about taking a picture of her holding a card that says "Thank you" and using the pictures as her thank you card. You could mail those to everyone and then they also get a picture of your daughter. Hope you like the idea.

A paint handprint is Always adorable!!

My youngest turned 1 a few weeks ago...I picked out a really good snap shot taken at the party and I made a greeting card. (Like the ones you get at Christmas time with the picture on it and HAppy Hoildays on the side or bottom or whatever) So the greeting card had her 'birthday picture' on it and below it said 'Thank You for making my 1st birthday so very special. Love, Mary Kathryn October 5, 2007' So then the guests have a pic of her on her special day too. Very easy and very cheap. Shutterfly, wishflash, snapfish, and even walmart does all kinds of things like this.

Maybe you could have her color a special picture that you use as the actual card, and then you could write the words?

I write the person's name at the top and then thank you in the body. my son tries to write his name but then he will try and draw a picture of himself using the gift and then he'll put stickers on it relating to the gift. His buddies, all around the same age, really enjoyed their cards!

Take a picture of your daughter holding a sign that says, "Thank you!" (Print it yourself or print it from the computer.)
If you really want to be creative, have her holding/wearing/playing with the gift they sent. It's very cute indeed!

We did this with our daughter.
We printed her picture in black and white on cutely bordered paper, which you can buy at Hobby Lobby and had her press her hand on a multicolored ink pad and place it on the the paper. I then wrote the "thank you" note and she did her best at "signing" her name. I then wrote her name underneath her "signature" in parentheses. Everyone called us thanking us for the cutest thank you note they had ever received and some even framed theirs.
