Hello,
You have lots of great advice. I love to get people Willowtree statues. They have lots of choices and don't cost too much. I always get a good response. Let us know what you get. :)
I know there are a lot of creative and thrifty ;) moms out there, so I wanted to hear from you ladies. We just moved from OK and my husbands boss and wife have been SO helpful to us. They let us stay at their home while we were looking for housing, had us over for meals, got us a welcoming basket, etc.....I wanted to do something for them. We spend time together so they already come over here for meals, games, etc. I wanted to get something to show how much we appreciated all that they have done for us...I'm welcoming any/all ideas!

Maybe you could make a donation in their name to a charity close to their heart. For the women who are throwing my baby shower I've made donations to the MD Anderson Cancer center Children's Art Project in their names. Its a gift from my heart to them, and it helps sick kids too.
I also agree with bill, a simple thank you card is always appreciated
I always find beautiful and unique gifts here: www.glazedfromtheheart.com
Edible arrangements send beautiful fun fruit baskets.
Do a picnic basket...Summer is comming so send them to a movie and a picnic...
Put gift certificates to a local theater in there for an afternoon matinee, put a bottle of sparkling cider in there and appropriate disposable cutlery and food that won't spoil.. and directions to the nicest park in the area, and perhaps a disposable camera...some disposable champagne glasses, don't forget a nice blanket or table cloth ;-)
Wow that's always a tough one! What I like to do is pay attention to something they realy enjoy. I had a great family friend with 3 kids that had a pool and loved the outdoors. I made an inexpensive basket of pool toys, towels and flip flops for the family. Also any candid family shots in a decorative frame is great, pictures of the two families together. Good Luck!
how about a day spa certificate? Not sure what your budget is, but a massage and pedicure would be great for her, and how about a nice bottle of wine for both of them? And I agree with whoever else said a gift card to a good restaurant, or movie theater. Or offer to watch their kids if they have any young enough to need babysitting.
Find out what they like to do when they go out and give them a nice card and a gift card for the restaurant they like. Maybe a very nice plant, such as a mixed garden basket and a thoughtful card. Good luck!
Hi.there C. i would probaly make him and her a basket of there own stuff in there like for her a bottle of bubble bath a nice bottle of perfume stuff like that and for him i would get him some nice men stuff in there and do a gift card to a nice place for them to go eat at like salt grass steak house is really good are joes crab shack good luck have a great day oh and i would do a nice thankyou card also
It sounds like they are generous & genuine people, so they may downplay their help. Get them at least a card, and perhaps when they are over for a nicer dinner at your place let them know verbally how much you appreciate their friendship and assistance during the move, etc. Any other gift you may decide to give is icing on the cake. Put yourself in your boss' wife's shoes. What would she like most?
If I were her, I'd appreciate a nicely written Thank You card and perhaps a gift certificate to a favorite restaurant - to be used for a night out with my husband!
Morning C.;
Some times women try too hard to find something to buy when
in reality something so simple as a "Thank YOU" card would
mean more than a gift.
You could say something like:
When we were in Oklahoma
We thought being rich
meant having two cars jacked up in front of the house!
But, now that we're Texans
We know people Friendship is
what really means to BE RICH!
We DO APPRECIATE YOUR FRIENDSHIP!!
Just kidding from a fellow that lived in Tulsa for 3 years!
A personlized bottle of wine with a thank you w/some cheese & crackers. Check the web for personilized gift baskets.
Gift basket with a note of appreciation.
How about a altered paint can gift basket...it can be decorated in there favorite color..or theme. I can make them for any occasion...from coffee lovers to spa buckets...and can be done for any budget..check out my website for ideas http://www.stinkincutecans.flyingcart.com let me know if interested and we can work on getting them a great gift.
How about a gift certificate to their favorite restaurant? If they have kids, offer to provide babysitting also. Parents ALWAYS appreciate a free/cheap night out.
I'd buy them a "night out" package of some sort.
Just thought of a few things that might be helpful. If they are wine drinkers, you could get a basket add a bottle of wine with some crackers and cheese that always makes a nice gift. A gift certificate for an evening alone to a nice restaurant. Hope these suggestions, help! Good luck.
If you have been to her home and know her taste, then I would get something for the house. You did say that you play games, maybe you have a game her family likes and they they don't have that game. Purchase it and maybe put some popcorn, cookies, other fun snacks you enjoy on your game night and give it to them. You can always taylor th ebasket of goodires for each family memebr, maybe a bopttle of wine and a wine stopper for the adults and a small toy for each of the kids along with the game and a few snacks.
How about a gift certificate for a meal. It doesn't have to b expensive. Just make sure it will cover 2 meals at the place you choose. Maybe Olive Garden, Red Lobster. $ 30. should cover a meal (no wine), but they could pay for that if they wanted it.
plaquemaker.com it is amazing I got my moms xmas gifts there!
What about making your bosses' family life a little easier and sweeter in return!!! Make them something wonderful for desert or snack to take home with them. Do this as often as you wish with different desserts or fruit assortments each time. If you make these items at home, you will save money but, more importantly, your kids can be involved also. Have them make a homemade thank you card each time. Your kids will learn how to offer thanks and will feel great about themselves.
