Hello ladies,
I'm a new mom (age 41, LO is 11 weeks) and finding life a bit overwhelming. I'm looking for a local group of other new moms to connect with. Any recommendations for the West Hollywood or LA area? Any recommendations for how to get through this trying time without going insane? (lol, I think i'm already there, and that's with a regular workout schedule).
Thanks!! -C.

Look into the Pump Station. They have multiple locations and all kinds of mommy & me classes. It's a great place to go.

Find your local La Leche group if you are breastfeeding. Mine is great and I've met some wonderful women.

Try MOMS club
http://www.momsclub.org/
you can find a group in your area and you'll be put in a group with babies the same age - I joined a group when my daughter was 1 1/2 and now she is 12 and 5 of the families are all best friends!

Strollerfit or baby boot camp classes are great. Storytime at the library, MOMS club or MIPS.

I second the suggestion to check local hospitals and see if any have a breastfeeding support group. We made a ton of friends at ours, many of whom are still friends five years later. We talked about so much more than breastfeeding at the meetings. I think it's so awesome that my kids have friends they've known since they were infants.

Some hospitals also facilitate parent groups, so see if that is a possible resource for you. Also check your local community college system. We have one that offers free Mommy and Me classes for children of all ages.

One of the hospitals in our area has a "Mom and Baby Group" that gets together once a week. It is led by a lactation consultant and sponsored by the maternity ward.

You could try calling the hospital where your little one was born or others near you. Talk to someone in maternity and see if they do have anything similar.

I really liked the Mom/Baby group. It got me out of the house (which I desperately needed) and linked me with some other new moms. It was really nice to be able to just talk about whatever, because you really do need to know that you're not alone and whatever you are dealing with is totally normal.

Good luck!

I can't answer for your specific area but try looking for MOPS groups, MeetUp.com groups, stroller wourkout groups or contact your local Gymboree to see if they have any newborn classes you can meet other parents at (some locations do newborns others start around the 3 month mark). Newborns are the worlds most time consuming little beings and it is hard but it gets SOOOOO much better!! Hang in there, you are almost over that first major hump when it comes to raising kids:)

There is a group in Santa Monica called 'The Pump Station." They have wonderful support and may be able to lead you in a great direction. I think the secret to not going insane is to be with other moms.
