Hello, I am about to have my second child and I need to buy a double stroller, as my first child is only 18 months old. Can anyone recommend a good double stroller? They all seem so big and heavy. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

I have the Phil and Ted tstroller as well. I really like it. It is alittle heavier then some of the lightweight strollers mentioned but it doubles as a single/double and running stroller all in one. I bought it for my first in hopes that I wouldnt end up with a garage full of strollers. People always come up to me to ask questions about it. I bought mine on ebay. The only other downside that I noticed is that the sun visor doesnt go all the way down and my little guy doesnt like the sun in his eyes!!!

Would you please let me know what you find out. I am in the same boat. Some of my friends have recommended the sit and stand stoller.
I have not checked it out yet but they all seem to like it.
Good luck,

Congratulations on your little boy! Sometimes they sell those running strollers at Twice As Nice and they are cheap, less than $100. That's where I would go get mine if I had a baby on the way.

I agree with Victoria. I love my Graco duo glide!!! It is very easy to use and gets around great. If your looking for something lighter, you should try the side-by-side strollers. I am not sure if you can use an infant seat in those or not. Good luck and Congrats on the new baby to be!

I liked my Peg Perego Aria double stroller, I know very expnesive. We liked the side by side aspect, it is soooo light weight and easy to fold flat and put it in the trunck of our hatchback, turns on a dime, has five point harnass for littlest one. downside is wide and expensive. but go to burlington coat factory and try them out.

Baby Trend just put out a double stroller that becomes a Sit'N'Stand later. It comes with an adapter for the carseat as well. I have a 20 month old and a 6 month old and it has been great. I am into practicality and longevity. I believe this stroller to have the qualities of both.

It is the the Baby Trend Sit'N'Stand Plus. I got mine at Target.com because I couldn't find it in any store. If I needed to I could have returned it to any Target store if I didn't like it. (But check return policy anyway)

You can froogle.com it too and it comes up in other sites too.

I have a Graco DuoGlider, and I absolutely LOVE it!!! I have twins, and it is the only one that I found that will fit two infant carriers (I know that's not an issue for you, but maybe someone else who is reading this can benefit, too). I bought mine on CraigsList for $100, but I have seen some on there recently for around $50, most of them even come with the carrier and base. However, my only complaint is that I have to take off the front tray in order to fit it in my trunk because it is about an inch too tall to just slide in, but other than that, I think that it is a wonderful stroller!

Hi A.,

I have a great Eddie Bauer stroller that I got at Target. I am not sure that they sell them any more. It is a tandem stroller that folds like an umbrella stroller. It is about half the weight of most strollers and fits into the trunk of my Volkswagen Passat. My only complaint is that the basket underneath is pretty much useless and there isn't a parent tray. Both of my girls (4 years old and 15 months) have been very comfortable in it until recently. My 4 year old is getting too tall for it. I paid $140.00 for it but would sell it for $60.00. If you are interested I could meet you at one of the malls in the play area just send me an email.
Congrats on your second:-)

I highly recommend the Phil and Ted's e3. We started with the Graco double (front and back orientation) and hated it from the beginning. It's very hard to steer and took up most of the cargo space in my Outback. We thought we had to accept this as just the nature of the beast with two small tots.

The e3 is lighter and SO much more maneuverable! You can steer around tight isles in shops and get it up a curb with little effort.

It does have a few drawbacks, though. You might want to read some reviews before committing, but here is what I’ve found with ours:

• No attached accessories for parents – I bought a matching water bottle holder which doubles as a fanny pack so we’d have a place for drinks and keys. It is strapped around the handle bar and is big enough to hold two bottles, keys, a small wallet, and a pack of tissues, but not a cup of coffee, as it does not sit completely vertically.
• No cargo area to speak of. When I purchased mine the website gave me a free diaper bag that attaches to the side of the stroller like the P&T panniers do.
• Tires are air inflated, which can be a pain during goathead season. Because my husband and I are cyclists, we remedied the situation by using slime and tire liners and carrying a compact bike pump, and we’ve had few flats. A bike shop can do this for you.
• No latch to keep the stroller folded, at least on our older model. Could cause problems if you go through airports often.
• Not much of a view for the child in back seat. My kids don’t seem to mind though as there is plenty to look at from the side.

All of this said, though, we would never go back! It is an investment, but totally worth it!

Hope this helps.

I have a combi double stroller, it was pricey but well worth it since we travel often. It's steering is easy, and can hold an infant seat with enough room for an older child on the other side it's also well compact it can fold to the same size as an umbrella stroller. I suggest trying them out in the store and ask a salesman if you can see how it fits in your car, that way you can visualize what it what you can fit back there with the stroller.

Good luck!

I have the Phil and Ted's E3 double stroller. It's very compact, a dream to fold, I can push both my kids in it with one hand, and I can still get groceries into my trunk with it in there. You can use it as a single or a double, and switch it around so the baby is laying down and the toddler is riding. You can usually pick them up on eBay cheaper than the website. Another bonus is that you can use an infant carrier with it.

Hi A., I have two. I have the duo glider lxi and the combi side by side. I think the duoglider is best at first because you can leave the little one in his car seat and move him straight to the stroller with out waking him. Once he grows out of the portable car seat I think the side by side is better. Then they can play and entertain each other. Good luck! -M.

The Eddie Baurer tandems work really great. I'm not sure if you can use a carseat with them but it has snaps that you can use to lay the baby down and keep him from sliding out. I love it and it is really easy to use and my daughters love it. I'm planning on selling our soon (my daughters are 4 and 2) since Lina (4) likes to sit weird in it. If you are interested, let me know.

I have a graco side by side (not sure the exact name) but i love it. It fits well in the trunk of my VW Passat. I only have one son, but his buddies ride with us often and they can play in the stroller. which could be a draw back with a new baby particularly if your bigger one is as "helpful" as mine. I am also expecting, and thinking about getting a tandem for that reason. but... the side by side fits well into the big restrooms, and not sure how the tandem will work in that area. good luck. when you due? i am due mid July.
