These Types of Questions Typically Don't Ellicit a Response- but I'm Gonna Try!

My daughter will be 2 in August. I'm looking for a program where she can go MWF from 9ish to 12ish so I can work. Problem is most places want you to pay for a full week just for part time. I don't want a home daycare; I want a program that is fun, has art activities, sings songs, teaches basics...things like that. The internet has been useless and we have already had a horrible daycare experience. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

Hello B.,

My 5 year old is in the Discovery Point VPK program, and with that they offer a drop in rate.

I am not sure if the drop in rate is offered outside of the VPK program, but it would be somewhere around $30.00 per day I think.

My daughter started preschool at 2, MWF from 9:15-12:15. I would call around to preschools and see what programs they have. Good luck!

I hope you find what is best for you and your kids.

On that note, my two kids'
best childcare (outside of home)
were home daycares
which were very structured, small,
and had everything from circle time to outdoor playtime.
The tv was rarely on, save for pick-up time
(the providers both found kids easier
to disengage from tv, than from fun activities).

Dont sell yourself short,
but DO go with your heart.

Good luck.

Country Day School of Largo (Montessori) is awesome, however, they are pricey! Well worth it though. My 5 yr old and 2 yr old attend there.

Before I put my 5 yr old in Country Day, I tried Aldersgate United Methodist and did not have a great experience (for the 2 yr old age group), LOTS of green runny noses and every time I was there the teacher wasn't really doing anything. Not even wiping noses. Little ones standing off in the corner sucking their thumb, etc. That lasted two months for us and I pulled him out.

Then I tried Faith Presbyterian. It was a decent preschool, however they switched teachers and I did not like the new teacher for the 3 yr old class. The main thing that I didn't care for was my son seemed to be having a difficult time. He went three half days. MWF Towards the end of the school year he was crying every day when I dropped him off, begging not to go to school. He cried when he got home too. He was bit, and scratched on two separate occasions. He would always tell me "nobody likes me mommy". So I casually ask if they think there is a problem with him. I am assured there is nothing wrong. As hard as it was, I finished out the school year. I monitored quite a bit and saw that he was very touchy and affectionate with the other children (same at home) and they didn't like it. I would talk to the teachers about it, but still they didn't feel there was much to be concerned about.

I eventually found out that he had sensory issues. The school was no help and seemed to have their head in the sand as if there was nothing really going on.

Country Day was very familiar with sensory issues and I have not had a problem sense! You as a teacher probably already know that when you have a teacher that understands your child's needs, personality, it makes all the difference in the world.

Check them out! They filling up quickly due to the change in public school system. It's well worth it!!!

Good luck!
