Hi,

Thnks for your replies to my asking for suggestions for a restaurant to hold a shower. When is the appropriate time to hold a shower, as in how long before the mother is due should you have a baby shower? And just your personal input- games or no games?

Thnkx!

What can I do next?

Baby shower games are tons of fun!!! We had several that were very memorable at my shower! There is one called Diaper Derby - everyone is split into teams and chooses a "Team Leader"(before knowing what the Team Leaders job is), and then each team gets a roll of toilet paper. Each team has 60 or 90 seconds to make a diaper(and it stay on) on the team leader and then mom judges the best diaper!! Hilarious! There is also baby jeopardy! Let me know if you have any questions, I plan showers and parties for part time work.

Thanks and good luck!

I would say the best time to have the shower would be in the 7 month (or early in the 8th), just in case she goes early. This will give her time to find out the sex of the baby (if she wants) and register for gifts.
I liked the games at my shower, they were not real cheesy. One fun one was an ad-lib game. People were broken into two groups, the facilitator had them come up with different type of word (ex: noun, verb, etc). She then read the story of my child's first days entering the words that people came up with. It was pretty funny (ex: when the baby first looked at her dad she thought _____(fill in the blank)).
The other game that was fun and easy was matching celebrity babies names to their mom's.

Some baby shower games are really fun!

Like guessing the baby food, or "what's in a diaper"

I absolutely hate the one where everyone has a necklace or something and you can't say a certain word like, "baby" or "cute", then someone takes your necklace. That is overplayed and dumb anyways! (to me that is)

here's a cute link to some:

Yeah, around week 30 is about the latest I'd want to plan it. That's when I tried to plan mine, but my girlfriends who were hosting it weren't going to be in town that weekend. So we planned it for week 33 - and my daughter was born the day of my baby shower!! :-)

Good luck, I bet you'll have fun!

I wouldn't schedule a shower before 6 months. The end of the 7th month is a good time though. I personally don't like typical shower games. We have started doing prayer cards and/or notes of advice showers in our circle of friends. You get a small scrapbook (7 X 7) and decorate the page borders with baby stickers and/or paper, then each guest can take a page to write a prayer or words of encouragement. Or, if the mom-to-be already enjoys scrapbooking, give each guest photosafe card stock to write their notes on, leave places in the book for photos and she can easily complete a New Baby album on her own.
