Toddler Toddler Bed - Egg Harbor City, NJ

My son is 22 months and recently started climbing out of the crib. We put the single bed mattress on the floor in his room but he thinks it is a place to play. I have been debating whether or not to get a toddler bed. My daughter was a restless sleeper and needed the room. He does not move around as much when asleep. Just wondering what other people have come acrossed and what worked for them.

What can I do next?

I say skip the toddler bed and go to a regular bed. It skips a step for you too and some $$ too.

I'd skip the toddler bed, why waste your money on a bed he'll use for a couple of years tops. We put our son on a twin mattress on the floor at about 14months with no problems and we plan to keep him on that until about 3 when we'll put the mattress on a bed. He loves being able to run into his room and plop himself onto his mattress face first. We love that all 3 of us (mom, dad, son) can pile onto his mattress with legs hanging on the floor for story time before bed.

I think I would try the toddler bed. If you are worried about him rolling out you could buy those side bars to keep him in.

Another option is a crib tent. Around 20 months our daughter started climbing out of her crib so we put a mesh tent on top of her crib. It worked well. In fact, now she cries if we forget to zipper it shut. She is 2 1/2 and we plan to move her to a toddler bed at 3.

Hi T.!

My friends kids went through this, and she bought a "Crib tent" that they sell at babies r us. It will keep them in the crib, and is see through, it just goes over the top. Or try a toddler bed - I got mine off craigs list.
Take care *hugs*

I would get him the toddler bed.

My son started climbing out of his crib when he was 13 months old. This went on for about 2 weeks, and we said enough was enough. We bought the toddler bed, and he's been sleeping there ever since.

Obviously he's ready to be a "biggie boy".

I actually would recommend a toddler bed. The toddler bed is a great transition piece. The mattress is the same size as the crib mattress. So not much of a change size-wise. They also sit closer to the floor, less chance of injury if he should fall out. Probably less scary of a move for your toddler. My son was thrilled when he got his "big boy bed". It wasn't too overwhelming, so I think he felt comfortable with the change.

At 21 months I put my daughter straight in a single (twin) bed, make sure you put bed rails on the sides, so he wont fall out. She did great with it , good luck

We got our son a toddler bed and I highly recommend it. We tried the mattress thing and he also though it was play time, not sleepy time. The first night in his bed, he climbed in and didn't move till the morning. He gets in and out on his own now, but he doesn't play on it like he did the mattress.

If his crib can change into a toddler bed then you could do that. I would try a toddler bed or just go right to a single bed, just make sure you get a frame for it so it looks more like a bed, that might help the fact he thinks a mattress on the floor is a play place. My son will be 2 in a week and we moved him to a regular twin bed in his own room when he was about 19 or 20 months (I was expecting again so we needed the crib for the baby and chose not to convert it into a toddler bed). But you don't need to use a toddler bed if you don't want to. It would save you some money just skipping straight to a regular bed of his own. Hope this helps a bit
