Toddler Vomiting Phlegm

My first born projectile vomited my breast milk for weeks, then i started her on special formula and that went flying too. As she got older, she began vomiting phlegm mostly, and most often at night time. She did this for 3 years until I made a very simple shopping decision. I'm not allowed to talk about it here because it's considered marketing since the place where I shop also has a business opportunity attached and is well known for it. I'm not a Pedi doctor but my daughter & son both vomit phlegm often when they were toddlers. When they both were sick with colds and sinuses, this would cause a build up and stay logged within their stomach and throat. No matter what I did to suction their nostrils there was lots of phlegm logged in their tummy's.

After so much of a build up they would get sick and vomit so much up that it would literally scare me. Once the vomiting was complete and all the phlegm, both kids usually feel better until it happens again.

It didn't really stop, until they were able to spit out cold and blow their noses on their own.

I don't think you should worry much because as long as it's not yellowish/green (infection) just make sure you try to help pull that phlegm out when the vomiting starts.

My son has to take Zyrtec before bed or else he wakes up with an upset tummy (from drainage) and has to throw up.

I have this problem. Just like when blood gets in the stomach, it can make you throw up, so can phlem. Once you get the phlem out of your stomach though, everything is okay again. The thing to do is make sure that, at nightime or while he is taking a nap, make sure there is a cool mist humidifier in his room to help move things along in his nasal passages and maybe give him a decongestant a little bit before hand (are there any safe ones on the market for toddlers now days). Also, those sudafed plug-ins also work great.

The phlem in the vomit is not a really bad problem -- more annoying if anything. And once it is cleared out of the stomach, you're back to normal.

Hope his sinus are back to normal soon.

Sounds like he may be having a gag reflex to the drainage from his sinuses in his throat. Just a thought... Teach him how to hawk a loogie :)

My son had the same problem and it turned out to be acid reflux.
He was vomitting every day and complaining of a sore throat and tummy ache and I assumed he had the flu, but it didn't go away. He wasn't running a fever, he didn't really act sick other than vomitting. His throw-up seemed very mucousy and after a week of it, I took him to the doctor.
The doctor knew immediately what it was and gave him some medicine. He also told me to make sure he slept propped up at an angle, etc.
After one day of the acid medicine, the vomitting completely stopped.
It was miraculous. My son doesn't even take the medicine anymore.
So, I would certainly talk to the doctor.
Acid reflux is pretty easily managed, if that's what it is.

check him for allergies.

The sore throat and stomach ache could also be from the phlegm. Drainage. He may have allergies. If he is old enough, I would try Claritin.

Take him to the doctor.

For goodness sakes, go to the doctor.
