I will be traveling abroad with my husband and 2 kids ( 2 years and 8 months old). We decided that we are going to attempt taking 2 smaller indvidual strollers instead of a big double stroller. I am looking for a lightweight stroller that allows my 2 year old a comfortable postion for sleeping. Does anyone have any recommendations? I have looked at the chicco liteway, the MCclaren and the mommas and poppas strollers. I am trying to not spend alot of money and I know that some of the really expensive strollers are considered great. Also, if anyone recommends buying a double stroller instead let me know. Most of the time, we don't need a double stroller, my 2 year old walks everywhere. So, after this trip, I am not sure how much use I would get out of a double stroller which is one of my reservations about getting one. Any advice would be appreciated.

What can I do next?

Get a sit n stand. My kids are twos apart and it has served us well. I got mine at a tag sale, it was in like new condition. Check craigs list.

treveling abroad - everythign is more compact, you wouldn't really have any room for a side by side stroller. i definately thing 2 singles are the way to go. if you don't want to spend much money - look on craigslist - i'm contstantly buying selling my kids stuff on there as our needs change. look for one that has a carry strap so that when your 2year old is walking if there is someway fold it up and attach it to the other stroller.

In January I took my almost 2 year old (he turned 2 on v-day) and at the time 3 month old to Las Vegas to visit my grandma. I was going to use backpacks to carry them through the airports and stuff, but last minute decided to get the Joovy Caboose Sit and Stand stroller. It was a LIFE SAVER!!! I totally recommend it. It has an attachment so you can use pretty much any car seat to stick on it, so you can keep your 8 month old in his car seat, or you can just put him in the main seat compartment. Then the standing part on the back was awesome for my two year old, because he hates being strapped in, so he could get on and off as he pleased, and he really loved just standing and riding on the back. It also has a seat though, so he could sit when he got tired and it has a belt so you can strap them in if you don't want them going anywhere. I really can not give this stroller more praise. I don't know what I would have done without it and it was great only having to worry about one stroller.

I got it off Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001IYB2HW?ie=UTF8&t...

I got the green one. :)

This is very similar to the Quinny that I use. My MIL got mine from Japan for about $100ish (I think) but it was on special so I'm not sure what they are like normally.

It's SO liteweight and I can't wait to use it when we go visiting family in Japan again when my daughter is a bit older. It doesn't recline, but my 6 month old still falls asleep.

Realistically, they don't like to sit in strollers for long, so I think it's more important that they are light and easy to throw around.

Go to a store and try them out. Everyone has different features they like and children fit in them differently. Also, as another mom suggested, because this is just for a trip consider a second hand store or craigslist. It will be much more fun to spend the money on sights and souveneirs.
Have a great trip.

I recommend anything Combi. The single stroller is resonably priced and reclines very well for sleeping. And you just have to see how small if folds down. Also, when folded there is a strap so it is easily slung over the shoulder to carry if needed. The double stroller is so lightweight, both recline well and is side by side which after many strollers over 11 years, is the best in my opinion.
