Hello we had some house guess a few weeks ago and there 8 year old son was staying in my sons bed and wetting it every night and never said any thing to us about it. And know I am trying every thing to get the smell out of it. We have tried shampooing it and I even got some stuff from the pet store that you poor on it to get rid of the smell. I would really like to save my mattress it cost a pretty penny but I also cant have my son sleeping on this mattress that smells. Any help would be great thanks

Hi J.! I found a really good, natural de-odorizer called
SOL U MEL. My son's dog has the nasty habit of peeing on his bed at night (yes, my son sleeps with his Mini-Schnauzer!) and
it soaked the mattress. I shampooed the mattress with SOLUMEL
and let it sit in the sun all day. It's like a new mattress
now, and yes, I put a good plastic cover on the mattress!

There is a great product at the janitorial supply store called "piss-off" (gross, I know) but it does work. The trick is to let it take 24 hours to dry. Apply it, cover it with plastic wrap and set a towel, then a vacuum on it. The slower it dries, the deeper it goes. This works excellent on carpet, for pet stains and odors too.
Try Kids-N-Pets carpet cleaning solution, you can find it at the grocery (large blue/yellow/white bottle, about $7). Not all groceries carry it, but our Safeway does and Target as well. We have used this a lot with our little Bissell carpet cleaning machine while potty training our second son, who seemed to like to go anywhere at any time!
We also have used a carpet cleaning solution of 1 part water, 1 part ammonia, 1 part rubbing alcohol. Highly toxic, and make sure that you have no kids around and can open the window when you use this, as it will be very very stinky and hard for you to breathe! We originally were given this recipe by a very clean German couple and used it to get grease out of a pink carpet where we were renting. We were amazed at the other stains and dirt it removed. So now I use it on occasion at our house. I last time just poured it on my son's mattress and let it air dry for a few days' time.
I don't remember the name of it as I haven't used it in years but it is at Kmart in the baby section and it is for washing clothing. It gets out urine and blood and formula and you name it! It is in a white spray/squirt bottle! I would pour it on the spots and let it soak a bit!

Vinegar and a plastic sheet that covers the top and the bottom will help until the vinegar does its job! Good luck
Try exposing it to the sun, outdoors, for several hours. Vinegar or Chlorox will also sometimes take away the smell. I don't remember which is best to use on urine.
Have you looked on line for a suggestions? Or you could call a major cleaning service that clean up catastrophes. They get out blood, urine, smoke, and chemicals.
Good luck! Mattresses are just too expensive to have to replace.
I have found that using febreeze works well. You can also go to a medical supply or a janitorial supply place and get some enzyme sprays.
Hi J.. I'm going to agree with the other ladies, Vinegar! Our cat peed on our couch...soo gross...and we googled how to get urine out of furniture and we found vinegar and water. We had to do it a couple of times and after the 3rd time of spraying it on, by the next morning the smell was gone. Both the vinegar and urine smell. We went back over ours with a wet towel, rubbing it in and kind of rinsing it out. But it worked...no more cat pee!!! Good luck!
Wow! I am glad you asked, my son still has accidents and I have been thinking about getting him a new mattress, but now that I have read these responses...I am excited to try these tips! Thanks moms...
I agree with Amy and Kristy. Vinegar is the one thing that I keep stock-piled in my house. It works really well for any pet stains and smells, as well.
vinegar, and hot water and a shop vac to pull it out from both sides, and depending on the mattress fill inside, you may never get it out.The tinniest drop of liquid can penetrate a foot of fiber fill, like a pull up, sorta kinda
