Tummy Tub

Forget spending money on gadgets...I enjoyed bathing with my infants - once in a while - like while on vacation - and had dad or a girlfriend to hand him to me and stand by with a towel. Why waste the money. Enjoy the memory. That's my vote

I think I am the only one answering who has actually used the TummyTub! It's WONDERFUL! Totally worth the money and so much better than the "tried and true" cheap plastic garbage that is everywhere. First of all, young babies don't need to be scrubbed to death! A little bit of soaking in soapy water and gently washing the dirty parts is really all they need. The TummyTub is also great for colic and fussy evenings like my daughter had. We put her in the TummyTub every evening and she blissed out, which made our lives so much happier! This tub has been used by millions of babies worldwide, wake up America!

I agree with Tiffaney about showering with your infant... quick and enjoyable for both! A suggestion to me was to put a washcloth between your bodies if doing this. Infants can get really slippery when wet and this will give you a bit more "traction." After they are old enough to sit in a Bumbo, we used ours on the floor of our stand in (only) shower. (I often sat on the floor with the kids.) It was a great way to shower both of us, shave my legs, and easy to manage while alone!
I found that I used one of those baby slings (mesh thing that the infant lays down on and it folded... around 14.99) and the sink worked for me. (I always hated the baby tubs, myself.)

I agree with the others. Don't waste your money.

That looks like the silliest waste of $45 I've ever seen. By the time your baby can sit up in the tub they are past the womb experience that I think is really helpful in their first 3 months (Happiest Baby on the Block). I watched the You Tube demo video and didn't see anyone actually washing their baby. All they were doing is keeping their heads above the water. Having bathed many babies over the years I can't imagine using anything more awkward to try to bathe my child in.

Super inexpensive, absorbs the warm bath water, baby is laying down so it's easy to actually wash baby and keeps baby warm during the bath. I used it every night with both of my kids until they could sit up well. So well worth the $14.99!

Now that she can sit up, I bought a $7 bathmat for the bottom of the tub and she sit securely and doesn't slip around in the tub.

I take it you haven't actually had your baby yet. : ) Once you do you will quickly realize how unnecessary products like this are. Sure it looks neat, but it's no better than the kitchen sink (which is what I used) and seems more difficult to use than the infant tubs. Spend the $45 on something you will love like a baby Bijorn carrier or a wipes warmer.

I just watched the you tube segment & I do not understand why you would want to spend 45.00 on what is in escence a large bowl. I always used the 15.00 tub that all stores carry & then once they outgrow that - the tub is more fun and easier. I see nothing that makes that so fantastic & then how are you washing them if you have to hold their heads up the whole time - at least with the lay down tub versions - you have a free hand to do the washing.

Anyway - that is my 2 cents.

Not only does that thing look silly, it looks dangerous. I agree with the other moms- how can you wash your baby if you have to hold his/her head above water the whole time?

I think a sling, pouch or mei-tei carrier would be a better way to recreate the "womb" experience. I think that what a newborn craves is closeness to mom- the sound of her heart beat, her smell, her warmth...not being put in a bucket of water :-]

I found the amount of "baby stuff" to be overwhelming. A lot of it never got used. The things I found very useful were the swing, sling (I used a New Native), bouncy chair and pack n play. I used an infant tub with a hammock attachment. I also used a large teddy-bear shaped sponge when my babies were brand new.

I've never tried one so this is just my opinion, I really don't understand how it works. I watched the demo video on YouTube but it seems a little strange to me. Especially for $45! And if it is to be used as a bathtub how do you wash the baby? It seems like you have to spend the whole time holding their head up so it doesn't fall into the water. Kind of unrelated but also in the video they had a newborn with the clip on his belly button stump..isn't that supposed to stay dry?

In my opinion it seems like a lot of money for a product that is not necessary. If you decide to try it please let me know how it works out! I'm curious.

I can see why this item caught your attention...especially if you are thinking it would make your baby feel safe and calm and in a womb like environment. :)

We bought a really nice infant tub before my son was born. It has the battery operated little spray nozzle, comfy sling that sits in the water so the baby stays in the warm water while bathing, etc. We used it exactly 3 times. :)

What I found that my son preferred was to simply shower with mommy or daddy. The skin to skin contact was VERY soothing and comforting to him and he loved it. If you are trying to recreate a peaceful, loving environment, I'd suggest just showering with your infant and see if that fits your goal...instead of buying an expensive gimmick.

And as someone else mentioned....you shouldn't submerge the cord stump in water. Until that falls off you should only sponge bath the baby and not get that area wet.
