Bad Teacher - kind of vulgar, but very funny.
Brides Maids - heard it was funny, haven't seen it yet.
I'm looking for suggestions for movies for a female (middle aged) friend who is ill -- I really want very light, very funny upbeat movies, nothing touching or tear-jerking!
She's not prudish, sounds like some good options! Any more welcome!

Bridesmaids...hysterical.
Hitch is hilarious and pretty tame. When I want to veg out and laugh, I put it in!
The Help (out next week), makes you laugh til you cry tho.
Bride Wars
Evan Almighty
Footloose
We just saw Horrible Bosses and thought it was funny. I'm not into chick flicks and we never go see movies, but we rented this one and my husband and I laughed a bunch. J. Aniston was a bit more than we expected, so if she is prude (which is ok), this might not be the movie for her. I don't remember any nudity, but the dialogue was sometimes a bit surprising,
Christmas Vacation
The Hangover
Date Night
Planes, Trains and Automobiles
Horrible Bosses
Bad Teacher
Just Go With It
are you looking for movies in theaters or rentals?
if she needs to laugh:
Rentals:
Horrible Bosses (it does have raunchy humor in it)
The Help (it will make you laugh and cry)
Just Go with It
Grown Ups
Movies:
Jack & Jill
Tower Heist
I don't know much more about what's out in theaters right now.
Legally Blonde
13 Going on 30
17 Again
When Harry Met Sally
Miss Congeneality
Bridesmaids
Since it is the holidays, what about 'Elf'? Nothing offensive in it and funny as hell! I would advise on all the movies you are suggested, look on IMDB or YouTube to view the trailers to see what movie you think she would like.
