Upper Front Permanent Teeth

My 7.5 year old son lost his second upper front baby tooth a little more than a month ago, and the permanent tooth has not shown any sign of coming out yet. The reason that I even start to think about it is that, the other upper front tooth came out about a couple of weeks after the baby tooth fell out.

Just want to check with the moms here and see how long it usually takes for the upper front teeth to erupt after the baby teeth fall out. Thank you.

So What Happened?

OK, after 2.5 months wait, this questioned upper front tooth finally erupted. Before this, I also called dentist and was told that it could take up to 6 month to erupt.

My son lost a front tooth and it took over a year for the permanent tooth to start coming through. As long as your son gets regular check-ups and yearly x-rays, the dentist can make sure the permanent tooth is there and moving down properly. Some just take a while. (BTW, my son's tooth is now about 2/3 in, and it's taken about 4 more months for that to happen...)

My son lost the 2nd tooth on the top right Feb 14, 2009. No sign of it yet. But he lost the one on the other side and it came in right away. Some teeth come in before the old tooth is out and some can take over a year. It will come eventually. Check with the dentist... they usually have some idea when it will be in.

Hope this helps.

Our son lost one of his teeth and after 3 months no sign of a new one. He happened to have his annual checkup, and the doctor said he could see the new one on the x-ray, it just wasn't low enough to start showing yet. Sure enough about a month or so later it started to come it. I guess timing is different for every kid.

My dd had one of her top front take about 7 months to come in. I asked the dentist after 4 months of no sign of it coming in and he said sometimes teeth will take 1-1 1/2 years to come. Thankfully, my dd's didn't take that long.
