Upper/middle Back Pain While Pregnant

Hi Moms -
I'm 19 weeks pregnant, and for the past few days, I've developed an achy pain in my upper/middle back (left side, just next to the shoulder blade) whenever I stand on a hard surface, even when I'm wearing supportive shoes. Anyone else experience this? Lying down helps, but it is interfering with my ability to cook dinner (I do have gel pads in the kitchen; they usually help, but not anymore). Would love to hear whether this is a common pregnancy thing and, if so, what to do about it. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I'd talk with your doctor about it soon as possible.
It could be muscular or joint related - relaxed joints can cause a lot of pain.
It could be a spine alignment problem.
It's probably nothing serious but pregnancy can put an awful strain on our bodies.
It's common for gall bladder problems to crop up.
When my Mom had a heart attack, she felt a pain in her shoulder and back of her neck (she wasn't pregnant) - women don't always feel pain from heart problems like men do (in chest or in left arm).
Tell your doctor all about it soon as you can and have it checked out.

i did it while i was pregnant but the whole time and everybody told me that it was normal... well the farther that i got in my pregrancy the worst it got.. mine wasn't normal cause when i was in labor and my epidoral person come in and started to my epidoral he told me that i had a sever case of scolosis (which is where your spine is curved either like an s or a c) but i really hope that yours is just normal but you might want to look it up and check and make sure with your doctor.. i was told by everybody that back pain is common with pregancy so it could just be normal.. i wish you luck and i will pray for you..

When I was pregnant with my last two kids, I spent a LOT of time at the chiropractor. I'm not sure I could get through my last pregnancy without that.

I suggest that you ask your doctor about this. You could have a scoliosis that is causing pain now because of the posture of being pregnant. Or you could've pulled a muscle because of your different posture. I suggest it's definitely something you want to check out. If it's either of those things chiropractic could help you.

I'm 21 wks & I started having similar pain a few weeks ago but my pain is more concentrated between my shoulder blades . I'm also nauseous. It does hurt much worse , when lying down. My doc suggested Zantac . So, I'm assuming he thinks it's reflux. I can't decide if the meds are working or not.
