R.S.
My grandmother's name was Virginia...I love it. Two cousins are named after her...one is nicknamed Ginny and the other goes by Gina.
Also love Violet...my niece is Veronica.
Please let us know which name you guys choose!
So we're having our 3rd baby, but first girl, in December. My name starts with a V, as does my mom, grandmother, and 2 aunts on that side of the family. I would like to carry on the "V" name tradition, but my husband and I CAN NOT agree on a name. It doesn't have to be unique necessarily, but I don't want it to be so common that she'll share the name with classmates. Here are a few names we've thrown around (and even this list is not agreeable to both of us): Vaughn, Vanna, Veanna, Vale/Vail, Vaylee. I would appreciate some thoughts/feedback on these names, as well as other suggestions.
By the way, our boys names are Luke and Ben if that helps.
Thanks for all the feedback, I will definitely keep it in mind. I know that the feedback here is honest because most of you don't know me so there's no worries about hurting feelings! Just to add, Vanessa is out because that is my aunt. Neither of us have been partial to Violet, and my husband does not like Victoria, Vivian, or Veronica. So that 's why none of the "traditional" V names made the list I posted. However, we have 5 months to decide so maybe I can sway him on one of the suggestions. Thanks again!!!

My daughter's name is Vivian and we call her Vivi. I'm biased, but we think it's beautiful :) Also, I don't think Valerie was mentioned. Val for short? I love nicknames.......
Veronica, Roni for short. Valencia or Verlencia. Venice or Venus. Verity, Latin meaning truth.
I also like Vaughn, but not particularly the others.
Veronica. Great song by Elvis Costello.
Valerie. Great song by Steve Winwood.
Vaylee is a cute variation of Kaylee which is so popular.
I like Vanessa and Virginia.
I'm sure anything you decide will be great.
I really like Violet, Vanessa, Vivian, Victoria, Valerie (Val's a cute nick name and goes good with your boys names since they are one syllable) and no offense but the names you mentioned do sound unique and you said that's not what you are going for.
Vaughn reminds me of Vince Vaughn, Vanna - Vanna White, - Veanna - like the Vienna sausage, Vail like the wedding piece and Vaylee sounds too close to Kaylee and Haylee so she may often get called the wrong name.
I think the choices I mentioned for you sound more common and names she won't get picked on for having & they go more with your boys names. Good luck in your decision, I know it's not easy!
Ohh...Vaughn...LOVE it! Or Violet! ok...truthfully, Vaughn is amazing!
I love Vienne... it's a french name though... may not go with your last name depending on what it is.
I also love Violet (it's becoming trendy though...)
I like Victoria or Vera
I like Victoria, Veronica, Valerie and Virginia.
My Grandma's middle name was Verona. A friend is Veree (pronounced like Marie but with a V). Another friend is Valeria.
Sorry, Vaughn is my least favorite. Knew a boy with that name, so it will always seem like a boy's name to me, I think.
Have fun choosing!
K. Z.
I love Veronica. That is my mom's name but she goes by Vicki.
Vivienne
Veronica
Violet
Victoria love this name and we call our friends daughter Tori
Don't like
Vaughn, vanna or veanna, vale or vail or vaylee
How about Vienna, Victoria (Tori), Vivian, Vanessa, Viola, Violet, Veronica (Roni), but I do love Vaughn.
My vote is for Violet and Vanessa and Veronica. I know they've been added but I couldn't help myself =)
I love Violet, Viola, and Vivan. I like Vaylee, I have never heard of it but it sounds cute. Good Luck!
Worked with a lovely, graceful lady named Violetta. (vee-O-let-ta) She was from Euroup, and was brilliant and very talented.
I remember going to school with a girl by the name of Vashti, (If I'm not mistaken, that's the correct spelling.) It's from the Bible, as are Luke and Benjamen.
Hope this helps. :)
Victoria. You can always call her Tori for short.
Valerie is cute, too.
Virginia (there are only 2 in the whole school district)
Victoria (shortened to Vicky or Tory)
How about Vienna? Or Veena?
My 6 year old is named Virginia. The name is not common anymore and she has nicknames ranging from V to Ginny to Gin to Virginnie. Victoria is another beautiful name.
Violette or Violet, Viola, Vivian, hope this helps!
What about Vella? My friend just named her baby that.
Valerie is my favorite "V" name- it's my 23 yr daughter's name and she only knew one other Valerie growing up. There are also lots of spellings you can choose- Valarie, Valery.
Vivianne,Violet are my fave!!!
I like some of the more traditional names like Violet, Vivian (or Vivianne), Victoria, etc. Since you're boys have traditional, classic names, I wouldn't go with a trendy girls names. Good luck!
My vote is VIVIAN. Thought you could use a 78th response to your post! LOL!!
I have seen some of my favorites listed already, but I just want to add to your question as well (;-)! Veronique (which is French for Veronica), Valencia, Vasia(Va Sha), Vivienne or Vivian, and Valentina. Congratulations on your first daughter!
I like Vienna and Valentina. However, from your list I gotta go with Dori on this and pick--Vaughn.
I've always liked the name Vivian. Also, there's Victoria, Virginia and Veronica. Out of the names that you had listed, I think I like Vaughn the best.
I have always liked the name Verity. It is very old fashion. I think it is old English. When I was little there was a lady at our church called Velvet Mae.
Vy, Vee (went to HS with a Vee, but it was only a nickname, am trying hard to remember what her full first name was), Verna (tee hee, Verna H. would be so tickled), Viviana, or Vivica. I really like Veronica/ka/que, Vivien, and Vanessa, though. Of the ones you listed, I like Vaughn best.
Congratulations on your first girl...Victoria and Veronica were always favorites of mine when I was in school. Seems like girls with those names were always sweet. Nicknames for these two have always been different as well. Torie and Ronnie are cute while their given names are classic.
M.
Thought I'd throw one out that I didn't see suggested. Vivica came to mind.
I've always loved Violet
Have you thought of Valerie, Vanessa, Victoria or Vicky, Violet or Veronica?
Good luck!
I love my name...it's V.. You could add a middle name that is a little different like Skye, Cheyanne, Raine, Irelynn...just don't make it Jean..lol. Here is a true story for laughs...Back in 1951 dad's couldnt be with moms during birth...so my dad went golfing. My mom was so upset (and she really liked the name) she actually named me Cinderella! My dad returned and was given the birth cert. to sign b4 seeing me. He saw the name, ripped up the cert. and told them to name me V. Jean (after his favorite golfer Ben Hogan's wife) signed it and then came to see me and my mom....they laughed over it and so that's how i got my name.

The name Violet Ann
Oh, You have had SOOOO many that I tried to read through them all....
but I love Vedra. Every Vedra that I have known was just a beautifl strong woman.
Congrats!
E.
Verocia (pronounced ver-o-sha) is another pretty one I don't see mentioned here. GL!
How about Victoria or Valerie?
Varuca Salt!
Sorry, I just watched Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
I know a little girl named Valerie. They call her Valeria (Va-let-y-a) or Valerina. Very cute nickname possibilities
I have a wonderful friend named Victoria, whose daughter is named Violet :)
Violet, Victoria, try Googling it
I love the name Vaughn! That's what I voted for with our daughter. I got shot down though lol! I also *love* Vivienne. I think it is very feminine and beautiful.
I'm not crazy about vanna, veanna, or vaylee. Vail (maybe with a different spelling) is ok.
If you're looking for unusual names, both of my grandmothers had "V" names: Valta and Viva (with a long a sound, like revive).
Violet is a beautiful name, and one of my dear friends is named Victoria and goes by Vicki.
Good luck & God Bless!
My roommate in college came from a line of V female names which included: Valeigh, Vacresia, Veca, Vanette, Varla, V'Laura, V'Lesha, V'Lynda...all very different. Good luck!!
V., Vanessa, Valencia, Victoria to name a few. You can go online and look up names for babies.com.
vivian, vera, veda, violet, veronique
Violet and Vivian are longtime personal favorites of mine but I also like Velvet, Veata, and Verity. I have known some beautiful women named Vivette, Vida and Victory.
One of my favorite V names is Victoria
Violet, Vanessa,Veronica, Veronique, my Grandmothers name was Verdie Vee, it is the only time I have ever heard it befor. Sorry if I posted before with the same names... Was having trouble with my phone. Good luck!
I have a girl with the name Viridiana this is not a common name thats why I liked it but I also have heard Vannesa, Valeria, Viviana. I hope you can find more.
I think that
Victoria, Vicky, or Vanessa
Is a nice name.
Vanetra
Valice
Valencia
OzK
I really like Vaughn. Veronica and Victoria are my other favorite V names. Congratulations!
My daughter's middle name is Violet (which I love), but the only reason I did not choose that for her first name is because this was my grandmother's name and my grandmother was often called "Vi" - which I hated. So...keep that in mind!
Good luck!
L.
how about Vanessa or Valerie?
Veronica- nickname -Ronnie
From,
Enrie Shelton- FortWorth Texas-
I love the name Veronica, with its connotation of movies stars and kind of comic strip love interests. I also like Valentina and Violet. Other than that, as a high school teacher and school counselor, consider that oddly spelled names really do look funny when the child is in school and their name is being read on a piece of paper. I would chose a classic name, even if it is a traditional surname like Vaughn, but always one where the spelling is consistent with the normal pronunciation. I am actually reading a mystery right now where a character is named Venice, but it MUST be pronounced Ven-ee-chay, so she has to correct everyone...Yuck.
My fav's:
Veronica (could be nicknamed Vica or Nica)
Vanessa
Valeria
Vania
Let us know what you choose!!!
My daughters name is Victoria. Victoria Rose, and her nickname is Tori.
we love it
The only V one I really like is Violet. Vallie's okay (however you wanna spell it) but everytime I hear it I think Valley Girl and sing the song :) Good luck!!
Veruca could be an option if you liked the band (Veruca Salt) or the movie (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) but she was kind of a brat but it is a cute name :)
Vivi, short for Vivian. Best of luck to you and yours!
I like the name Vaughn & Vaylee :)... also i like the names Victoria, Vienna, Varina.. good luck in your decision.... :)
How about V. (like Renee but with the v)? Its super unique, nickname can be V, Nae or Nae Nae.... :)
Let us know what you decide on!

I had a friend named Vivia in college. Always thought it was a great name. As for the names you listed, I'm partial to Vaughn and Vaylee.
Good luck choosing a name!
V.? Nick name of Tori... Or Vicki
Off of your list I really liked Vanna.
Hi my great grandmother's first name and my middle name is Vyoline (Vy-leen). She went by Vy. I love it and I've never seen it anywhere else.
I had a lovely little old lady living next door who was named Velda.
vanai, valentina,veniah,vienna,victoria
I have a friend named Velynn, she is as unique as her name!
How about Valerie? Or Valotte? The latter is the name of a song. I always thought the name was unusual and pretty. The song is pretty too. :)
I may be partial but I love Victoria. Ironically enough this is not my first name just what I go by.
Vivienne, Vezna, Valerie, Vincenza, Vera, Vivica.
I like Vaughn! How about Valinda, Vera, or instead of Vanna, maybe ViAna, where it emphasis is on both the V and the A.
Victoria, with a nickname of Toria.
Veronique
I know that they have already been listed, but I will place my vote for them.
There is also Valla.
I really like Vaylee!! I may have to steal that one from you someday. I also like Vanna, but I'd worry about her getting teased about Vanna White.
Have you thought about Vienna? My sister had fraternal twins 9 months ago and her daughter's name is Siena. I think Vienna would be really beautiful and original.
I wouldn't go with Vaughn personally, because I know several women who have named their baby boys Vaughn recently. My name is S. (was Shannon) and I had two boys named Shannon in my class from 1st grade through 8th grade. I was quite the little girly-girl back then and I was absolutely miserable about it. I was very upset at my parent's for naming me Shannon back then, but I began to feel better about it when I changed the spelling (in 6th grade) and am now very happy with the way my first and last names go together.
I don't know if you and your husband are open to suggestions for other V names, but I'm going to share some of my favorites with you anyway. I really love the name Veronica. I'm also a fan of Vanessa and Veronique.
I know you'll choose something wonderful. Enjoy your baby girl!!
Best,
S.
My cousin's name is Verike. Just thought I'd put it out there since I don't think I saw it on any other reply.
Did anyone mention Virginia? I just love it. Vera, Verdiana (ver-dee-ah-nah) and Violante (veeh-oh-lahn-teh) are also my favourite with V.
Have fun!!
Valeria (call her Lera), V., Victoria, Valerie, Vandahlia,Vanillee, Vanda, Veralee or Veralie, Veronda, Viola, Valinda
Of those mentioned, my favorites are Vaughn, Verity, and Velynn.
Others I think are pretty that haven't been mentioned (to the best of my knowledge):
Valencia
Valeska
Vanja (pronounced Vonn-ya)
Vera
Vitalia (full of life)
Congratulations!
HOW ABOUT VIVIENNE? UM I LOVE VALORYE!! VIENNA, VIKTORYA, VADA, VAYLYNNE? HOPE U LIKE ONE OF THESE!!!! good luck and congradz!!!!!!
My favorite name has always been Veronica!
Love the name Valentina!
Vivian
Valarie
Veronica
Vashti- she is a Queen in the book of Esther
I have always loved the name!
I love Vivianne, and Violet is my grandma's name and has always been near the top of my list for a baby girl.
Good luck and congrats!
I know you've already responded and you have quite a list already, but for all the Scooby Doo fans out there, I had to include Velma (I wouldn't pick that one, but I couldn't leave it off the list). Good luck. Vanna makes me think of Vanna White, Vail of skiing and nature. I like Vaughn but find it somewhat androgynous (which was very trendy for awhile with all the Morgans, etc.)
Of the ones on your personal list, I would probably go with Vail or Vaughn, otherwise I like Veronica and Valerie (Vee and Val) which remind me of people I went to school with.
our friends just named their daughter Vivian - she goes by Vivi which i think is so cute. My grandmothers name is Velva - but I wouldn't name my daughter that.
try thebump.com for girl names with the letter V. good luck
In these days and times many people make up their children's names. Have you tried going through the dictionary and examining the meanings of the words that start with V. Perhaps you will find a word that means something special to you. An example is Virtue. What about a place, Vennis.
Luke and Ben are from the Bible. Try looking there in the index of names. Go online and look for famous people whose names start with a V.
I am partial to the name Veronica
Valentine. I have two v girls already, and that would be my 3rd if I had one
I like Violet too as well as Valentina, Valencia (kind of goes with Ben and kind of Luke too in a way..) and even know a girl named Valentine, and it's really cute. I like all of your name choices... never heard Vaylee, but it's really cute! Veanna is really pretty, but I agree with the others that it would be associated with the sausage. One of the other posters picked Vivica- LOVE IT! Good luck with whichever you choose.
Vallesandra (va-la-sandra)...
Virginia
Va'rune
Vilena
Have any of the women with the V names passed away? There is a tradition among in the Jewish faith of naming a child after a deceased family member. That being said, I like Vera and Verona as well as Valencia. Good luck and Mazel Tov on your first girl!
We have a friend whose daughter is named Vivian. Although it is an old fashioned name, I love it because it is unique for these times and not an unusual, or difficult name to spell.
why not vivian, or voilet?
Vanna, Vella, Veela, Vina (or Veena), Vera, Velma (yes we love Scooby Do), Vanessa, Varahlee (sounds like verily), Vivi, Vanida, Vangie, Varial, Varsha, Velvet, Vicky, Vita, Vyra
Valeska, Vada, Valeria, Vanita,
Personally, I like two of the names on your list the best...Vale/Vail and Vaylee
how about V'ana..or Vennalee...or V'analeigh pretty and different
I went to school with the most beautiful girl and her name was Valarie (Val) for short. I dont know if its because she was so beautiful inside and out that I think the name is nice or if the name is just nice lol...I dont hear it often and I like it :)
wow you have had a lot of suggestions!, like em all except Vangie! lol
my suggestions - viola is pretty, vail is also lovely, vaila is a town in the shetland islands off the coast if scotland, my father used to go to a violin camp there which is how I know! staying on the place name theme, I am from wales and there is a place called Vaynor there which is kind of different, there is also a Velindre which is welsh for milltown.
so if you have any kind of celtic ancestry you could think about those
My best friends name is Vivian, I adore the name and she is a sweet heart = ) All the best!
What ever you do... DO NOT NAME THAT POOR CHILD VIENNA!! I think of vienna sausage every time. Lol! I really like Vanna.
You have an insane amount of answers, but just in case you still haven't decided...Vania apparently means "brings good news" and Verena means "true" according to their Latin origins.
Vala - it has German origins and means "singled out." Not sure how I feel about the meaning, but I do like the name. Another uncommon name is Vianna, which apparently has English origins.
Good luck and congratulations! Having a girl is amazing - I have one of each and love that I get to play with rocks, dirt, and dolls!!
I love, love, love Violet. I always thought Violet Victoria would be cute and call her Vivi (like the Ya Ya Sisterhood book).
Vivian...Vierra...Vera
V names are hard to come up with...out of your selection, I like Vaughn. Good Luck! Look through a baby book.
Valerie and V. will never go out of style!
Valicia (Alicia with a V)
Valentina-just named my daughter this 3 mos. ago. Her big brother calls her "Vallie" it's cute.
