Try Pfamily Arts - ###-###-#### or www.pfamilyarts.org. They're at Spring Creek and Preston, and many of the teachers there (including the voice teacher) are retired Broadway performers. Definitely the best training I've found around that area.

My daughter has taken lessons (off and on) the last three years at Promethean Studios in Plano (near Custer & Parker). Mark Black owns the studio(s) and is really good with kids. I haven't really looked into other places since he was one of the few that popped up online a few years ago. We just keep going back to him because my daughter is familiar with his style of teaching. So, with that said, I don't know if he's expensive compared to others - he just raised his rates, but if you can afford it, it's worth it. A reasonable way to get voice lessons for one that young (you have to be careful so they do not strain thier voice) is the Childrens Chorus of Greater Dallas - auditions are in the spring. My daughter is in her fourth year with the organization now singing in the Youth Chorus - she has toured Italy with them and Chicago this past summer plus many other great opportunities. They sing at the Meyerson. The directors have amazing backgrounds. www.thechildrenschorus.org

Promethean Studios offers voice, I believe. dallasmusiclessons.com. I haven't known anyone personally who has taken voice lessons there but I have worked with them in another capacity. They have a great staff and do all they can to further the child's success.

Plano Children's Theatre has several voice coaches. My daughter love Cassidy. They are VERY reasonable. J.

I too would second the suggestion about Dallas Children's Chorus. Has your daughter had any piano yet? She really needs to be able to read music and have some rudimentary music knowledge ( i.e. pitch, rhythm, note values, etc.)before she starts voice lessons. I would be very suspicious of any teacher that would take her without it. A choir, be it church, school or community is the best way to develop these skills. Voice lessons are really for more advanced voices. The voice itself does not even fully mature for girls until they are 16 or 17 years old. I have turned away many younger students for this very reason. Hope this helps!

You might ask the choir teacher in your school as they have some connections some times!

I would call or e-mail the choir director (teacher) of the high school in your town/area. They use voice teachers for the students that are usually privately employed (not by the district.) The choir director can give you a list of name and phone numbers.
