First off, this may sound like I'm selfish and I want I want -- its not what I am meaning by this. I am a proud mother of a beautiful 16 month old little girl and expecting our second daughter in February. I don't want to work out of the house any longer. This may sound a little weird coming from a 22 year old, however I've worked since I was 9. (Had to work in the summer if I wanted to do things with my friends like movies, etc.) I worked everyday after school starting when I was 12 and then on weekends. By time I was 16 I was the assistant manager of a gas station,plus was going post secondary for college crazy -- but small town it happens. Anyways. I have a paralegal degree and alot of administrative skills and I am looking for a "data entry", transcription type job that I can do a few hours a day from my house but still spend time with my daughters. I currently work for a company but am having difficulties getting off for my doctors appointments. Obviously as time gets closer to February I'll need more time off. With my first pregnancy I underwent alot of complications in the 2 months before she came. However, we can't live on just the income that my fiancee provides, but I am unsure I am able to punch the clock for the 8-5 everyday. I'm also not looking to just jump on state programs. That's the last thing I'd ever do, I want to work - just not outside the house. I don't know very many people here in the cities and am not real interested in a sales type job (i.e. Mary Kay, Lia Sophia, Pampered Chef - I'm just not good at that type of stuff.) I have done some work for a company called Young America Corporation. It's data entry processing rebates. If you are fast at typing it could be a good option for you. You have to drive and pick up the work each day and then return it the next day. It's pretty flexible and you can work for a few hours a week up to 40 hours a week. You have to go to a one day training but after that you're on your own. The pay is OK, but probably better than if you were going to work and paying for daycare for a newborn and a toddler. I too have a paralegal background and am expecting my 2nd child in Feb. (how funny) anyway, with the background you have you can call some of the area document vendors and possibly do some document coding from home. You might have to go into the office 1 day a week but that is no big deal and it will give you a little break. The one company that comes to mind is C1-Legal they have a lot of projects and know a few other companies that perform the same type of work so if they don't have something they may know someone who does. You can also call Dan at Robert Half Legal they too have positions that are document coding or data entry. Just something you might want to look into. Good luck to you in everything!!!
Take some classes, have your home inspected, and pay the $500 or so dollars to be a liscensed in-home daycare lady. I paid my last provider $120 a week which was on the low end of the pay scale and I now pay $250 for a toddler and newborn. The newborn gets a discount due to the oldest but the toddler is $130 alone. Good luck.
First of all, don't apologize for wanting to be a SAHM. Never apologize for that. I think for most of us if we had the chance would love to do the same thing. Besides, this website is here for us Mom's to offer help and suggestions to each other, not judge you. ;-) We need to stick together and that's why I love this website!!

I know you're not interested in direct sales (I'm an Usborne Books consultant)...but I don't think it's selfish to want to stay home! I worked full-time with my first (couldn't afford to stay home) but was able to be a SAHM once my baby was born--for one thing, daycare for 2 was too darn expensive!
What my neighbors did...they each worked a different shift. It was tough, but they made it work. That might be a possibility too, and then you wouldn't have to pay for daycare. Good luck!
