No. My girls did not sleep through the night until they were over 2yo.

That is probably not what you wanted to hear but it is true.

No...one of my kids did not sleep though the night ever until he was 2. The other one started doing it off and on around age 1.5-2. Some nights she will wake up even now at age 4 but most of the time she sleeps though.

Every child is different. And parenting style made no difference, since we were the same parents!

Nope! I thought it was some kind of joke that any child slept through the night (ever). Mine were both at least 2 before they slept through the night, and even then we still had visitors 3 or 4 nights a week.

It does get better! I was starting to wonder if my husband and I would have have some time together in the evening without a sitter. My boys are now 4 and 7 and most evenings we do have time togehter - unless we crash ourselves! It really does get better.

One was (my older child was sleeping through the night on his own at about three months old), and one didn't (she is currently 15 months old, and we're lucky if she makes it past 3am).

Nope. Not till he was 6 years old. He has sensory issues, and as soon as we got him a weighted blanket, he started sleeping through the night.

Every baby is different. I have a friend with 4 kids and every one of them slept differently and slept through the night at different ages. Don't compare yourself to others, it'll just drive you crazy.

All three of my kids slept 6+ hours a night by 6 weeks and 12-14+ hours a night by 3 months.
I exclusively breastfeed and just tweeked their schedules based on their natural rhythms to get longer stretches of sleep.
No problems with night waking, unless puking or potty trainin, no extra feeding or waking during growth spurts, teething, etc.
Babies can and do sleep through the night. I have 3 to prove it. Often, their night waking is a learned behavior caused by us jumping at every murmur or squawk in the night and feeding, holding, rocking, changing, etc. to get them back to sleep quickly. We teach them they need us when they wake instead of teaching them that they can soothe themselves, from a very early age, without using CIO or whatever sleep training method is popular this minute.

Yes. I breast feed them for the first few months but never did the totally on demand after the first 3 or 4 months. I had them on a good feeding schedule. And they sleep a good 7 or 8 hours through the night. Did the last feeding about 11 and they usually slept til about 6or 7. I found my kids would be up allot at night if they were hungry. They were all on cereal by 3 months and baby food by 4 months. Bowl of cereal and formula before bed and they slept good.

Yes, kid 2 and 3 slept 8 hours by 6 weeks, and 11-12 hours by 10 weeks. Then, at 6 months, during a growth spurt, they decided to eat 1-2 times a night. I night weaned the second kid at 9 months, and will be doing so in the next few weeks with baby 3.

The 3 who were breastfed, no. The one who had to go on formula yes. Breast milk burns off faster. But she/he should be sleeping for at 4 hours by 6 months.

answers from Columbia on

Yes.

At about 4 months, they started only waking once, and at 6 months they started sleeping through the night.

HOWEVER, depending up their growth cycle, they did occasionally wake up at night. At some times they simply needed more nutrition, and others they needed more sleep. You'll be able to tell when they're entering a growth cycle because they eat like it's going out of style. And when the cycle ends, they don't want to eat much at all. Just go with it. :-)

Yes. My 1st one was at 3 months exactly. She took a bit longer because I breast fed, wasn't gaining much weight, & had to switch to formula. My 2nd one was the day before she turned 2 months.

Depended on the night. Some nights they'd go a decent stretch. Others, up every hour or 2. Depended on what was going on with their development, growth spurts, teething, getting a cold etc.
Babies don't sleep 8 hours every night. It just doesn't happen. Nothing you do will change that. It is not in their nature to have an adult sleeping pattern. There is no magical age or weight reached for it to spontaneously happen. Every baby is different. This week can be different from last week for any number of reasons.
It's hard not getting a full uninterrupted night of sleep. I get it. I have 3 kids. The best thing to do it find ways to rest when you can and make it work. Every child does eventually sleep longer stretches.

Nope, not until about 1.5 years. but we co-slept, and it was never a really huge issue for me. My grandson took almost a year longer, in spite of his parents trying every single "solution" including a stint of CIO.

I will add at 6 weeks, she slept from 11pm to about 6. That is when I went back to work and she started on formula. It made a HUGE difference.

Yes. By this time she was on a bottle with formula. The last bottle at about 11:00 pm and up at 6:00 or 6:30 am

There might be some fussing, maybe a diaper change and small bottle.. But yes.. Mostly slept through..

I started Ferber just after six months and they were sleeping through the night within a week. By through the night I mean from 10:00pm to 6:00am. They did occasionally start wake at night due to colds or teething, but for the most part they slept through the night.
