My girlfriend had gestational diabetes, and had 8 associated ultrasounds. She was constantly told that she was carrying a boy, but baby was born a girl. (a perfectly normal teen presently.)
I was wondering if anyone was told one sex then at birth it was another? I was given a 70% chance of it being a girl.

I have heard of people who have been told wrong my situation was the original tech was out of town and they had the lady come from the hospital and she said she was leaning towards a girl but she would not say for sure becasue it was not her usual equipment and it wound up being a boy (We found out for sure). I would say hold off on pink right now especially if there is only a 70% chance its a girl.
I have two friends whose ultrasound predictions were wrong. One friend was told she was having a boy and it turned out to be a girl. The other one was told on several occasions that it was a girl (she was high risk and had several ultrasounds) and it turned out to be a boy.
Our ultrasound was wrong about the gender of our child. We were told we were definitely having a girl. About 3 weeks before the birth, we were taking another ultrasound and the doctor stated he had been wrong we were having a boy. Thank heavens most of our nursery was green!
I am in the same boat as you. I am 20 weeks and last week the ultrasound tech said "in her opinion" it was a girl. But the baby kept it's legs closed and there was not a clear view. So.... I'm still hoping for a boy. I have 3 beautiful girls at home now and will love either one. It would just be really nice if she guessed wrong.
My first they said they weren't sure keep crossing her legs. My second they said was a girl at each ultrasound.. Surprise its a boy. I got a after baby baby shower with him as I had no boys clothes. They are 11 months a part and thought all her clothes would just fit him.. so in his first month he had a lot of pink on.. lol My youngest they said girl I said yeah sure! lol it was!
you'll know when it's born!! ha ha!
our ultrasound were right both times--boy first, girl second. this time i'm going for a surprise, so we'll find out when it's born!!
Hi,
When I first got pregnant with my first child, it was a girl and then I got preganant 2 years later and had ultra sounds because I was having a C-section and they told me all three times that it looks like I'm going to have another girl. Well, everyone was amazed that my little girl turned out to be a little boy but he was preety enough to be a little girl. I didn't have a spec of boys clothes so he wore yellow & green sleepers until we got some clothes for my beautiful baby boy. He is now 19 years old and the most handsome man I have seen. So that has been some years ago and technology has really stepped up a bit since then. Just have something on hand that your baby can wear and not get mistaken for a little girl. Hope this helps !!! Good Luck !!!

Hi Dannielle,
I have 4 kids and found out the sex with each of them and the tech was correct each time. Of course I had pictures that showed either boy or girl parts to backup what the tech was telling me. It sounds like your ultrasound tech is not sure and maybe didn't see boy parts so is guessing it will be a girl. I have heard plenty of stories where they were wrong. Be prepared for either a boy or a girl if your tech didn't get a good picture of what is between the legs. Hope you have a very healthy baby.....boy or girl :-)
They re right 70-80% of the time with a girl and 85-90% for a boy. The only truly accurate way is an amnio or blood draw.
I know of someone but it was over 10 years ago. She planned for a girl and surprise she had a boy.
This is one of those things where it just depends on the person. It's easier to see boys than it is for girls, but it's never a guarantee. Ultrasounds are always guessing it right or guessing it wrong, just one of those things that isn't a for sure thing unless you're pretty far along
Hi, and congratulations on your newest bundle of joy! At my first ultrasound my little bundle of joy had its legs crossed, so I knew nothing. My doctor was wonderful about doing ultrasounds at almost every visit after that because my baby was getting so big. Anyway, I was told that it "appeared" to be a girl. Well, 3 days before my induction we did one more ultrasound and what do you know...it was a boy! My husband almost did a cartwheel! We were shocked and I had to return a few things and get my boy names back in order. It was kind of an exciting way to spend those last few days before I delivered! Kept me busy! Good luck to you.
I did get my girl a few years later!
