So What Happened?

Thank you for your feedback ladies...Just to clear some things up I don't get up early in the morning to shower & do my beauty routine I do when I have to leave the house or have an appt. to go to my rule is if where not out of this house by noon we are going nowhere. On the days I do get out i'll shower shave, hair & makeup look put togehter. My brows I do them @ night after the kids are in bed,my nails usually not on the same night I do my brows. It does take time but it is time that I can spare I don't want to look like I don't care about myself (I have been there have pics & hate it)this was when all my kids were babies & I was an absolute sleep deprived mess.
My kids are still young ages 7,4&2

I don't wear makeup -- never have. I have extremely sensitive skin and can't tolerate anything on my face.
I don't do my nails -- I'm too busy for that. Every time I have my nails done, it comes off the first day because I've put my hands in hot water or scrubbed something or bumped them or... or... or....
My toes - Oh I love to have my toes done, but I never have time...
I get my hair cut every couple of months or so -- at the barbershop because it's cheaper and my hair just gets cut straight across, so it really doesn't matter if I pay $20 or $60, you know?
YMMV

nothing but occasionally fix my hair and do my makeup. which is only when I go out like a date or something. That is just to barbie doll for me. :) no offense intended when I say that. The main reason I don't do it is I don't have the time and see no point in sweating it off. I would look silly only wearing make up in the winter. and as for nails I am so tomboy I would break them so I don't do them either. I do color my hair though.

But my idea of dressed up is rockies a nice shirt, makeup, and fix my hair which I don't do often. I look like a dweeb with my eyebrows done.

I quit wearing makup a long time ago and now that I am in my forties and have a few pregnancy/age spots I would love to wear makeup but never take the time to put it on. I just don't get up early enough to do that and all the other things you have to do in the morning before heading out.
I have never had a salon manicure or pedicure. I occasionally paint my fingernails but they end up chipped by the end of the day (I'm an art teacher) and in the warmer weather I do try to keep my toes painted. I have about 4-5 inches of grey outgrowth that I never seem to have the time or energy to color and I wont pay the prices at the salon for color. I am about a month overdue for a cut.
I guess this probably makes the rest of you feel so put together. Glad I could help :-)

I need to start taking care of my hair (deep conditionings and trimming it). I used to get my eyebrows waxed all the time but I started having to pluck them in the parking lot to clean up what she left so I stopped going... I'm not going to pay someone to not thoroughly clean up my brows.

I pluck my eyebrows with one of those magnifying mirrors (I'm ocd about my eyebrows). I love doing my toe nails, but I can't do my finger nails on my own. Every three blue moons I'll get my nails done... I wish I could more but it gets expensive. But I absolutely love doing my toe nails. If my 2 1/2 yr old daughter sees me she wants me to paint hers too lol so I guess she likes it when I paint my toenails too. I put on my makeup every day (foundation, blush, mascara, eyeliner, and sometimes light eye shadow) and for days I don't feel like it or am having a bum day I just put on mascara and eyeliner.

I throw my hair up in a messy bun most of the time but seriously need to start doing my hair.. I keep telling myself I'm going to straighten it but it just never happens lol. I have dyed my hair twice... once blonde with red peekaboos and slices.. once very dark brown, almost black. Both were awesome on me but blonde ruins your hair and the "black" I just grew out of it. It's high maintenance dying hair all the time lol.

I don't. I wear my hair long (usually in a ponytail or a bun) and get it cut maybe twice a year. I get a couple of pedicures in the summer and do my nails on occasion. If I get a manicure, I'll do a few polish changes at home but then my nails start to dry out and break so then I stop. I don't color my hair (too much money and too much work and I'm not gray yet) and wear makeup maybe once a week.

I keep waiting for the day that I turn into the kind of woman who looks polished and put together all the time but I guess it's just not going to happen! I think part of it is that I went to a girls' school so during the years that these kinds of habits got formed, we didn't bother and the habits never stuck.

I do all of it myself, I'm a stylist though so it's second nature to me. I pluck my eyebrows every single day. I never polish my fingernails, but still keep them looking nice, and polish my toes maybe once a week.

I used to always have my nails painted, but ever since I started cleaning houses, the nails only get painted on special occasions and sometimes over the weekend.
I have eye brows like Brook Shields and have always HATED them, so as soon as I was old enough I plucked the H-E-double hockey sticks out of them. This does require a lot of maintenance. It is probably the only thing I consider high maintenance about myself...I would NEVER do anything like Survivor because I would Never want anyone to see me with my brows grown all the way in!!! I carry Good tweezers in my purse Just in case.
I LOVE sandals and flip flops in the summer I am all about painted toenails...it is something I do for me that makes me feel feminine. I even kept them painted during all 3 pregnancies. I have never paid for a pedicure or for having my brows done, I always just do it myself.
I don't really do the hair dye thing, too high maintenance.
I do wear make up Most of the time...but I do it for me because it makes me feel better about myself and I really can run errands and not care one way or another if I scare anyone with a naked face = ) I will usually Not go out without at least lipgloss and mascara.
Recently I went from shoulder length hair to a short hair cut, sadly it was WAY shorter than I asked for...sometimes you DO get what you pay for : ( A Bargain cut was not so much a bargain...I will not do that again!
I am a bubble bath girl...cheap or expensive bubble bath doesn't matter...it is my true me time = ) Sad as that may sound, it makes me happy so I guess that is what counts.

I constantly pluck my brows, usually at night while watching TV with hubby! I get a pedicure about every 2 months or if we are going somewhere for the weekend, before then. I used to have acrylic nails but right now I'm letting them "breathe" so i have them painted clear and kept short and I do it myself. I don't wear makeup at all unless we are going "out" somewhere and then I wear very little. I have long naturally curly hair down my back and I color it myself when my gray starts to show. I'm kind of low maintanance but do like really long nails since they make my diamonds look even better! :o)

I wear makeup every day, get my eye brows waxed 1x a month (pluck in between), polish always on toes, and on fingernails whenever I feel like it (not that often). Sometimes I go to a salon for mani's and pedi's...just depends on my budget.
I try to dye my hair colors that will fade naturally into my own so if I can't get back to my stylist it doesn't look cheezy, and I get it cut every 2 months.
Other things that make me feel girly and pretty are...nice quality/smelling lotions and perfumes. There's just something about after a nice shower putting on a great lotion, then spritzing some perfume on before I walk out the door. Heck, i'll even wear it if I have no where to go!

My kids are younger teens now and when they were little I didn't do much with my nails. At one point my mom paid for me to have fake nails and the upkeep but then I had issues with them and didn't get them any more. I did get my hair done, but I went to a gal who did hair from her home and it was cheaper...we actually do that now also, much cheaper. I didn't start waxing eyebrows until a few years ago. Opened my eyes up a lot. I do the upkeep myself, but have them professionally done every three to four months. I don't know how old your kiddos are, but I didn't have the time when they were younger. Now that they are older, I do get my nails done often, I get the axxium gel coat that stays on for weeks. I get a pedicure once every few months and sometimes take my girls with me (my hubby went once too and actually like it). As for makeup, I never leave the house with out some sort of eye make up on. I don't wear a lot now that I am older, I really don't feel I need it. Mostly I wear mascara and eyeliner and that is it. Church and date night I wear blush and sometimes eyeshadow and powder. I don't even wear foundation anymore. I'm with you, I like to feel girly and beautiful, but I don't indulge on someone else doing it all the time. I mostly do it myself. But it is worth splurging once in a while on yourself. Don't feel guitly, get some friends and have a GNO at the salon. Hope this helps. Good luck and God Bless.

When I was working full time, I did all of it myself, because I did not have time to go and have this stuff done.

I take care of my nails with buffing and trimming, but polish is wasted because I work with my hands all of the time.

Now I just go for Pedicures, cause $18.00 to be able to sit and have all of that attention to my feet for an hour every 3 weeks.. is awesome.. They also wax brows for $8.00, so IF I have time, I will have them do it..

I just always felt like I wanted to spend as much time with my family as possible when our daughter was living at home.. Once she was off at college, It was easier to do these things and not feel like it was cutting into our time together.

I can't remember how long since my last haircut...at least three months, best guess. I just repainted my toes because the polish was getting pretty bad. I wear sandals all summer, so I will keep them painted for now, but not so much in the winter. I paint my fingernails infrequently, and rarely wear makeup. I don't pluck, since I don't really see the need. My eyebrows look fine to me...light colored and just enough hairs (if I plucked, there would be little left).

I guess you could say I like the "natural" look. God made me to look like this, and I like His work! I mean....have you ever seen majestic mountains, a stunning sunset, an exquisite field of fragrant flowers, the dazzling night sky filled with stars, amazing Hubble pictures???

I get 'done up' on occasion, but not daily. I am not all that 'girly.' I like things simple. What makes me feel beautiful is clothes that fit, smelling nice, my hair being soft and not frizzy and feeling clean. That's why I prefer nicer weather....I don't like getting sweaty! Which also means I don't like yardwork or gardening.

I keep up on my hair, I do my eyebrows at the Ulta Benefit Brow Bar every other month and do maint in between, unless I have a special event coming up. I do my make up when I am leaving the house, but do not do it around the house (I too have roseacea and too much make up too often is not so good) unless I am playing with a new product. I just today polished my finger nails, but I have to re do it every other day, my nails just do not hold polish at all. I have to get my feet done professionally, it's a family curse of yucky feet! I am the only one out of the mom friends I have that do any of these things regularly but my friends who are not moms do their primping daily. Btw I am currently a SAHM but when I worked I was put together daily.

Have to do the peds and manis, I color my own hair and my hubby usually does my trimming---- but I really do need a salon to shape it now and then. I pluck my stray brows, and now I'm getting white ones and it sucks. I dont like to feel like a girly girl really, but I do like my toes to look good in my flip flops :)

Hmm. I either shower or take a bath daily. :P
My new thing is a once/month pedicure. I waxed my eyebrows once about 10 years ago, and my now-husband didn't even know, so I never did it again. I got a manicure for the first time when I accidentally found the engagement ring, but he didn't notice. I have always been a tomboy and just really don't do a lot with my hair (I just get it cut every 2-3 months and ask for something easy, and I get highlights and lowlights blended in with my natural color) but my husband LOVES playing with my hair and has said he loves being able to run his fingers through my hair without them getting "trapped" or feeling gross from product. Don't often wear makeup because I'm outside a little bit everyday (not laying out, but fishing with my 4 year old, helping coach the soccer team, going to the beach to play ball, build "downtown" in the sand (my son doesn't want a castle, but lots of buildings, lol), or taking walks in the nature preserve hunting giants with the boys. Things like that give me "just enough" sun and I have a little color from that, a cheap and natural "bronzer" and "blush". Occasionally I'll wear makeup (for dates or an event) and he'll kiss me and say "Mmmm, whale blubber!" (what lipstick is, or at least used to be, made of). He's just teasing, but I really like that he really does love me just the way I am. I keep my nails short but clean (I have little guys and do a lot of "stuff" to mess them up if they were long...also, they kinda gross me out if long, because seriously, it's just dead cells that you have to clean constantly so they don't get yucky underneath-I'm not impressed). But I love to soak in a tub with lovely bathsalts, shave, put on a nice lotion, and the aforementioned pedicures. That's all!

I never get my nails done.I pluck my own eyebrows and rarely wear makeup. I get my hair cut and colored once a month with a woman I've been going to for 8 years, it's $35 because I bring my own color and peroxide.

When I was working in an office I did some of that, but now that I work from home I can work in my pajamas if I want to, so I don't bother.
All that takes time and money and I'd rather spend my time and money doing other things.
I am beautiful as I am without layers of powder/paint or fussing or plucking (and my husband never was one to care for a painted lady look, but then he thinks I beautiful when I'm covered in mud from weeding the garden).
Once in awhile I'll take a long soak in the tub and do a peel off face mask.
I cut my own hair and I'll henna it once every 8 or so weeks.
That's about it for me.

I do, i paint my nails every three days, lol!, but i recently just grew them out after never having had nails my whole life!

But i also keep my hair dyed(maybe not cut properly and i rock that pony tail too much) My brows waxed, or plucked and i wear makeup every day(at least a little)

I feel better when i look better, the effort has always proved valuable to me.
