Wedding Dress - Sparta,MI

Our neighborhood is having a community garage sale next month. My husband and I are doing a massive purge of the house. One thing we found in the attic was my wedding dress. It had been cleaned and preserved in a box. We will celebrate our 10th anniversary this year and I highly doubt one of my daughters will want to wear my dress one day.

My question is: What are some creative things I could do or have made out of my dress to still keep it sentimental? I was looking for ideas before I decided to sell it or donate it. It seems silly to keep something in a box for the rest of my life.

Thanks,
C.

I cut my wedding dress up and made baptisim outfits for my kids. Everyone around me thought this was horrible that I cut my dress up, but I'm like you, why keep it? Some other things I thought of were blankets for my kids or grandkids. Or simply let your daughter use it for dress up; I can remember doing this with my mother and grandmother's wedding dresses. You could also have a quilt made of each of their baby clothes and put a piece of you wedding dress in it. You could also make a pillow and use your wedding dress as the backing for each of your kids. You could make kids clothes for your daughters dolls out of it. You could scrap book and us it as a back cover for pages. You could have it majorly altered and have it become an evening dress you could wear out to dinner now. You could have it made into a purse. Good luck with it! Oh, one more thing, I wish I would have taken a picture of the dress before I chopped it, just so my kids could see the before and after :)

I don't know if this is what you were looking for, but I donated my wedding dress to a company that turns them into burial garments for families whom have lost an infant child. Here is the link:

I myself would keep it for your girls.... You never know, they may choose to wear it, or possible make their own dress with it... My mom cut her's up for a halloween consume, or course this was in the 50s-60s, but us 3 sisters sure wish she hadn't.... Just my 2 cents :)
