I love weddings. I love talking about them, planning them, going to them, watching Say Yes to the Dress, and 4 weddings. I just like them, I have been married for almost 3 years, and I cant wait till we renew our vows.... Maybe because I didnt have the wedding I had wanted because of budget, but I still loved it. I was talking to my friend and she is getting married soon, and her wedding song was real (how can I say) expected..... When I got married, our first dance was to "You by Jesse Powell"........What was yours????? I love my song, i still get emotionial when I hear it.....If you havent heard it, go to You tube, or where ever you go to see videos and music, and pull it up.... Its awsome..

This is just a good convo topic... just something to talk about

What can I do next?

We didn't have a first dance. We aren't dancers. I walked down the aisle to When I fall in Love (Nat King Cole.) Once they announced us, as husband and wife Something's Got a Hold on Me (Etta James) was playing.

Most people's wedding sings are expected. There's a reason certain songs become so famous, for weddings...it's becuase they are very meaningful and fitting. We had an extremely unique wedding, but traditional music. This is a fun topic!

Ours was 'Nothing Else Matters' by Metallica. I didn't want some corny wedding type song and I love the simple lyrics.

I walked down the aisle to "Do You Dream of Me" by Michael W Smith. (sappy, I know). Our first dance was to "Annie's Song" by John Denver. (He picked it.)

Yay, this is a favorite topic of mine too. I think I picked an awesome wedding song for my husband and me. It was Mariah Carey's version of Michael Jackson's "I'll Be There" when he was part of the Jackson Five. I always loved that song - it was so innocent and sweet, and it had that little '70's vibe going which I always thought was cute and reminds me of my early childhood. Plus, I love MJ and Mariah Carey, so it was the perfect song for us. I got many compliments about our unexpected choice - even from our videographer, who used the song to make a beautiful montage in our wedding video that still brings me to tears when I watch it.

Our song is "In Your Eyes" -- Peter Gabriel.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3kFPBtc9BE&feature=re...

In your eyes
The light the heat
In your eyes
I am complete
In your eyes
I see the doorway to a thousand churches
In your eyes
The resolution of all the fruitless searches
In your eyes
I see the light and the heat
In your eyes
Oh, I want to be that complete
I want to touch the light
The heat I see in your eyes

We also danced to "When we Dance" by Sting
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYEkZLgAE3s

Come and live with me
We'll have children of our own
I would love you more than life
If you'll come and be my wife
When we dance, angels will run and hide their wings

When we dance really hits home with me... honestly because I was (unhappily) married when I first met my husband more then 10 years ago. We went our separate ways even though we felt an incredible connection.. long story short I divorced but we still kept missing our chance I wasn't single when he was, he wasn't single when I was.. and finally after years got our chance. We're deliriously happily married and just had our 4th child. It was worth waiting for. :)

Our first dance song was "TOnight and the rest of my life" by Nina Gordan. I walked down to Cannon in D because, even though it's super popular, I LOVE that song and my friend playing it on the violin was a dream come true :)

Porcupine Tree's "The Rest Will Flow." They are just awesome in general. We also played Ozzy's "I Just Want You" at the reception. Very low-key reception in general. Since we got married though I have heard a lot of great songs for weddings, including "Here for You" and "Lay Your World on Me" from his Black Rain album. I think the latter would be awesome for renewing your vows or an anniversary party. :)

I do not, however, get into weddings as a rule. I am very happy when friends marry, but I am very lame and not a party person. I'd rather hang out and play board games, and my husband and I both do NOT dance. At least not with any grace.

Our first dance was "True Companion" by Marc Cohn. Our wedding party was announced to "Magic Carpet Ride" (the club version) by Steppenwolf and we were announced to "Start the Commotion". I have to say the two most memorable songs of the whole reception were "Jump Around" by House of Pain......and the last dance of the night "Send Me on My Way" by Rusted Root. Our last dance was awesome! Perfect title for a last dance song and the dance floor was still full! Makes me want to do it again! :)

Our song was "Could I Have This Dance?" by Anne Murray. It just summed up my feelings: Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?
Would you be my partner every night?
When we're together, it feels so right
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life.

Hubby (who is SOOOO not a dancer) and I danced and he sang it to me while we danced. My cousin totally cried :)
