wENot Planning on Her Taking a Nap

I recently posted on how a home renovation has interferred with DD's nap. Inlaws have stepped up and taken her extra days. Tomorrow they are not available but offered their house. The last time they did that DD didn't nap as she wanted to see gramma and grandpa who weren't home. Therefore, I am not going to drive up there--40 minutes away--in hopes of getting a nap. i'd rather she snooze in the car and we go on a road trip or while I jog in the stroller. DH says that's not a good way to nap. I say it's just one day and for sanity reasons I can't be trapped in at my inlaws if she's not going to nap. To me, it's a waste of a car ride and we could use a change of atmosphere. Thoughts?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

We had a great day. I wore her out at a park first and then we road-tripped to an outlet center (outdoors). She slept during the hour ride and then we shopped. The outlets were brilliantly designed with a playground right in the middle of them so it was play, shop (for mom), play shop. She didn't nap on the way home but at least she got the hour. I then stopped at a park again and jogged with her.

It was a win-win because I got a much-needed change of atmosphere and she got to nap.

If she's anything like my DS, she'd sleep the 40 minutes there and the 40 minutes back and be awake the whole time she's there. I say put her in the stroller and go for a jog. It's just one day, worse case scenario is she doesn't take a good nap-it's just ONE day!

My fourth child (thinking this is your first) NEVER napped at home. With 4 kids and having to be here and there.....I used her nap time when we were out to actually get things done. She napped in the car and the stroller most of the time and she has turned out just fine.

Don't go out of your way to get her a nap....she will when she needs, wherever she may be.

My kids have very frequently napped while in my running stroller. I run a lot and often used to plan it around their naptime purposely. Nothing wrong with it! They sleep fantastic especially when you are moving. I often park them in the shade and pull out a book to read while they nap and then they play at the park when they wake up. We get a refreshing day outside. When they were smaller we did this at least four times a week for years! They survived.

I'm with you. It's only 1 day. Nap + sanity trumps the alternative every time!

My daughter had LOTS of naps in her stroller or the car, because that's the only way she would nap some days. I got lots of walks, or we went for a drive to nowhere, just so she would nap. I don't see a problem with this.

It's one day. Do what you have to do and don't worry about it.

i don' t know how old she is, but it's just one day. and a nap in the car or stroller is better than nothing - if she's young enough that she still really NEEDS a nap that badly, it will do. wear her out real good in the morning and then let her snooze if she wants to.
