I keep getting those "you are glowing",........... "pregnancy looks good on you"....comments. Id like to think it is all the work ive been doing with nutrition and fitness, but i wonder.
Were you prettier when you were pregnant? HAIL no. I doubled my weight when pregnant.
What do you think causes the pregnancy glow? Sweat and a low grade fever and softening of the joints/bones which makes the face widen. You can ALWAYS tell when an actress is really pregnant v the belly because her face widens at least an inch. For most people this makes the face more symmetrical... and the more symmetrical the more 'beautiful'.
Yes, pregnancy CAN be beautiful. It wasn't on me, though!

I don't think I was glowing, but just sweating. I was a bloated, fat cow when I was pregnant so anytime someone tried to make me feel better with a "you are glowing" type comment, I couldn't help but think they were liars. That is me personally, if others feel like they were glowing and prettier than ever, congratulations.

... oh yah, I got those comments too.
I was REALLY into fitness and nutrition too, and had the 6 pack abs and tight entire body and perky butt and boobs.
Then I got pregnant.
People told me I look so good pregnant! And that I 'filled out." Gawd.
Whoopee.
All I knew, was that I was HUGE... and everyone thought I had multiples in my belly. I was hot and sweaty all the time and had such a hard time lumbering around with my huge belly. I had gained, with my 1st pregnancy, about 25 pounds. Never really lost it. Then with my 2nd pregnancy gained 15 pounds. After that, maybe I lost 10 pounds.
Am I still glowing? No.
That is called the post-pregnancy-now-I'm-A-Mom.... 'glow.' Or growl.
LMAO!

Umm, I never had any kind of glow. When I was pregnant, everything that makes me pretty went away. My hair was a disaster, my legs turned into log-legs with cellulite and stretch marks, my butt became gigantic, my boobs got huge, I had rings under my eyes because I didn't sleep well, and I was pale because I threw up constantly... UGH. Hideous. Honestly I'm amazed my husband didn't run screaming.
If you have gotten prettier while pregnant, congrats and enjoy!!

I didn't think so, but my husband ALWAYS says I'm beautiful (even if I'm covered in mud from working in the garden).
I sure didn't feel beautiful.
My hair was great, but my face was blotchy, my belly was itchy (from stretched skin), my feet were swollen, and I got hemorrhoids towards the end of my pregnancy.
Glow? I was radiating heat big time.
I was so hot and sweaty all the time my poor husband froze since I had the thermostat on 65 and even then we had damp wash clothes frozen in the freezer to put on my feet.
What causes it?
Raging hormones.

Extra bloodflow. Feeling good about being a mom. I felt really good through most of my pregnancy, even when I was huge. I felt very happy and pregnancy just suited me well. If you feel good, you look good.

my nose always seemed swollen and my face was fatter. I can always tell in a photo if i was preggers or not. I never felt pretty. I look better with a thinner face! Yeah, i would have probably been glowing from an oily face!

I felt pretty when I was pregnant, now looking at some pictures I think I was delusional ;-) But, my usually thin hair grew almost twice as thick, my hairdresser was amazed! My skin was super healthy. And I was happy and content, and felt great through most of my pregnancy and that has to help!

I LOVED being pregnant, so I think that attitude makes you glow. My hair and nails were healthier too. Sure I gained weight and NO, my waist, hips and boobs will NEVER be the same, BUT I wouldn't change it for the world. I would say I was glowing...at least with my 1st. I got BIG fast with # 2, but sill LOVED being pregnant.

Women who experience what you are experiencing make it a lot more frustrating for those of us who don't! Kidding! My 1st preg I was thinking all these warm and fuzzy thoughts about glowing skin, a cute belly.. yeah freaking right. My skin went nuts, I broke out the entire time I always looked drained and had HUGE bags under my eyes (I have no clue what that was about) so it just made me even more miserable LOL. This time though there's been a few days where I'll look in the mirror and my skin looks nice (I think it's because I'm on progesterone this time) and I'm like Hmm... That's weird! I think not gaining as much weight this time (I'm at 15 pounds over normal weight vs. 40-50 at this point in my first preg) has helped me a whole lot but count yourself LUCKY! Although I have to say I've been hit on more being pregnant this time and it totally freaks me out.. who hits on pregnant women!?

Nope, no one telling my about my glow... :(
I feel good, and I don't think I look bad other than I'm heavier than I'd like to be, and not due to the pregnancy... I don't mind the belly, it's the rest that bothers me a bit... I like being pregnant, and I don't mind looking pregnant, but unfortunately, no, I'm not getting any comments telling me how cute I look pregnant.

I definitely didn't have the pregnancy glow. I didn't really 'show' until I was about 7-8 months along... I just looked really bloated. I didn't even really gain weight (outside of the normal baby range). It's funny, because I moved when I was about 3 months along, and started at my job when I was 5 months. My boss confessed to me that he didn't think I was 'really' pregnant (Until I popped out). Then I had the baby and went to the store a few weeks later. My boss saw me walk into the backroom, and told me that customers weren't allowed back there... then did a double take and recognized me. It really boosted my self-esteem when he told me "I didn't know you could look like that!" Lol. I definitely look better not prego.

When I was pregnant, I felt even more beautiful than my wedding day and I thought I looked pretty darn fabulous then too. There was something different...that glow I guess. I look back at pictures (I took them monthly so I could see me in progress) of me then and think my skin and hair looked prettier than ever. Everything was fabulous....then my wonderful father thought it fitting to take a picture of me about an hour after I delivered. I looked like I ate the nurse! That's a man for you though!
Whatever the reason, enjoy it now. Like me, you might not be pleased with the recovery or the bounce back not happening as quickly as I thought it should :o)

You're literally beaming femininity out of every pore when you're preggers... take lots of pics, pregnancy is sexy and beautiful!!
All that being said, I hated being preggers and felt like a whale, BUT... my husband loved every curve :)

When I was pregnant my hubby always said I had a smile and was so happy and glowing... and I was, well until the 9th month!
Call me crazy but my favorite times of my life have been getting married, pregnant with each of the kids and holding them for the first time. If I could be about 7 months pregnant for the rest of my life I would always be glowing from being happy, I love it!
out of 5 years of being married and all of the pics that have followed... my hubby's favorite pic of me is when Im pregnant with our daughter at about 8 months. He always says how beautiful I am and that with that smile Im just glowing. He always makes that comment every time we come across the picture.

Yes, I felt prettier pregnant. After first 3 months of all day nausea and vomiting, I felt a new appreciation for feeling 'normal". I worked out more consistently, gained just 25 lbs each pregnancy and I ate really well because every time I lost my love of sweets and junk food. Perhaps I had "the glow" or maybe just complete contentment with who I was and what my body was doing. My husband LOVED the way I looked too and told me so often which helped. He still talks about my perfectly spherical belly, and not looking pregnant from the back. Although I'm content with my 3 and feel I have reached my family size limit, I still love it when he reminisces about how I looked pregnant with each one.
Enjoy each stage (pregnant, newborn, toddler, etc). Nothing lasts forever. Nurse Midwife Mom

maybe this time i can at least say I'm as pretty pregnant. lol my other 4 kids I ended up gaining about 80 pounds, each! So pretty no, fat, miserable, in pain and just wanting it to be over, yup that's more like it.
For whatever reason this pregnancy really agrees with me, I have a 9 month old and we are 19 weeks along again and I've gained almost no weight and am still in regular tops. I feel great and couldn't ask for a better experience.

I'm guessing hormones can be thanked for the clear skin and lush hair. The after giving birth, it seemed like my hair fell out for 3 years.
It was good while it lasted, and yes, I loved being pregnant!
