I have a 4 month old in the Keller area and I am just not sure what age is right to begin a mommy group. I am ready to start socializing with other moms in my area and he finally isn't sleeping all day, is 4 months too early?

What can I do next?

I think mom groups are more for the moms than the kids! Moms need to get together and have some time to talk and share. That being said, I'm not sure I'd want my 4 month old around other children this time of year. I'd be very worried about all the sicknesses that are prevalent during the winter months.

I started in a moms group when my daughter was just shy of 3 months old :) She's 5 months now and I LOVE going. We go to a local MOPS group...which I HIGHLY recommend! There are two in Keller: Northwood Church and Hillside Community Chruch (go to mops.org for more info). She's obviously too young to really do anything yet, but I love to socialize with other moms. She is currently the youngest but a couple of the moms are pregnant, so she won't be for long! I'm concerned about getting her around other little kids and getting sick, so I just keep her with me during the meeting times and it's worked great!

We have lots of moms with only babies (young ones too) in my playgroup. Playgroups, imo, are more for the mom than the kids! It has saved my sanity and given me a reason to stay more normal, not so reclusive! Look NOW, some have waiting lists - ours does! Go to meetup.com to find some. It took my going to two different groups before finding one I LOVE so check more than one out!! Good luck!

Go for it! I think you will get so much out of Mom's group. I am in a MOMS Club in Flower Mound. I have met so many wonderful friends - for both me and my little one. Try- this:

Also, many school districts have an Early Childhood PTA. I just searched and Keller has one:

I am also involved in my area's Early Childhood PTA-
Good luck to you!

Not at all... sounds like a perfect time to start.

Here's a list of support groups that are already estblished, including 3 in Keller: http://www.burbmom.net/moms-groups-dallas-fort-worth-metr...

Most support groups like this offer not only playgroups, but group outings, meetings with relevant speakers for moms, etc.

Good luck!
