Laugh at the colorful diapers that result from it, and let it go. Most kids do this at some point. Same for play doh.

He's fine. He will just poop the rainbow for a day or so.

I'm sure one crayon isn't a problem. Products marketed for children typically can't be made of toxic materials. If he broke or bit it into small enough pieces that he could swallow it, he's likely going to pass those pieces just fine. Make sure he keeps having regular bowel movements and I'm sure everything will come out in the next day or so.

If this is the first issue of concern like this, keep in mind that your pediatrician has a 24 hour call line for parental concerns. You may get an answering service but your question will be referred to your pediatrician or a partner on call that night. If you haven't already, give the office a call and either the nurse or the doctor will reassure you and tell you what to do or watch for.

One crayon isn't a problem - diaper changes might be a bit more colorful for a short while.
If he ate a whole box - that might be a problem if the wax formed a blockage.
I know these things happen to the best of us but maybe Dad should do a little more to make sure his house is a little more baby proofed.
Either the bigger kids keep their toys out of babies hands or baby is in a playpen where he can't chomp on the older kids stuff.
I can't help but wonder what else the kid might have a chance to eat over there.

Don't give your one year old access to crayons and expect a colorful diaper or two.

Wax isn't typically poisonous. I think the bigger concern would be if a child ate a lot of crayons, they'd get a blockage in their system and be unable to pass it. Best to check with your local pediatrician or poison control office. I called ours when our son at the tip off a Crayola Washable marker. He was ok. I just felt better knowing. And then I supervised more closely. Good luck :)

Don't panic, make sure he is eating and pooping normally (well, other than the colors). Our dog is obsessed with crayons, she begs for them like treats when the kids are coloring! She has eaten boxes and boxes over her lifetime, she keeps digging them out of my purse or finding the strays under the couch :)

Did he eat the whole box? Call the crayon manufacturer or go on their website. They should be able to tell you if the crayon is toxic. Crayons have been around for many years and I am certain this isn't the first kid to eat one or more.

Usually I would have called poison control right away. Read the box. I'm guessing they are non toxic. Call the after hours peds office and double check but it is probably no big deal.
Just glad he didn't choke!!
