My kiddos are going to have professional photos taken when blue bonnetts are in season and I am trying to look for something they could wear (I have a 2 year old girl, 5 year old boy). For any of you who have gone through this -- could you make any suggestions, for what colors/styles of clothing might look best for such?

What can I do next?

I'm a photographer doing bluebonnet sessions, and I say color! Not white, but we can always work with white even if you do want to go with that. Last year I had my daughter in a really cute brown dress with pinks, oranges, and greens popping out and the color looked really cute with the blue flowers and green grass. I also did her in a white dress with little blue and green flowers all over it. I did a little girl in a bright orange dress and it was really cute. This year I'm doing my daughter in a yellow dress. Really, color is nice - and yes, don't mix patterns - if one child has a pattern, put the other in a solid that brings out the colors in the pattern.

About white - it's actually really pretty in the bluebonnets, especially dresses and such. Good luck! These are the sessions I look forward to the most each year! :)

I would think that coordinating, but not matching outfits in soft yellows would be really striking against the blue and green. When we had pictures taken as a family last year, the photographer gave us great guidelines regarding what we should wear, so make sure you ask the person you select.

For us, we were on the beach, so she suggested denim and white with some "bright" jewelry for me and my sisters. You want the focus to be on your beautiful children and the beautiful background, so consider a solid color dress for your daughter and khakis and a similar shade shirt for your son.

If they look good in yellow, I think that color would really POP with blue.

Neutrals would be good i would like, not white white since as someone mentioned that can wash you out. but Kakhi and pale yellow. I'm so jealous it sounds like a WONDERFUL backdrop for a photo

Coordinating but not matching is good. Solids not prints read better too. Our photographer told us to stay away from white - washes you out. Enjoy

Something colorful, maybe with a lot of white. I would opt for something pretty casual that doesn't distract with the children's faces or the color of the flowers.

Light greens, pale blues and purples, white, soft yellow, a cute little button up colored shirt, brown shirts with blue jeans... scroll through here and get some ideas:

I say yellow, red, or white...Any of those would really stand out and look great :) Maybe just a solid top of one of those colors and either jeans or khakis... HTH :)

My son and I had our pictures done in blue - he had a blue checked jon jon and I had a periwinkle/blue shirt - It came out pretty because it was all monocromatic. I wish I could upload it here so you could see it! A coworker has pictures of her family all in oranges, which was also pretty. I think white is also always a good choice.

Whatever you pick, I would go with something that is a relatively simple design - not lots of bold busy patterns, ruffles by the face, etc. Dont worry too much about what is on the bottom because that wont show in most of the picts anyway.

I be the picts will come out great!

I have a beloved picture of my daughter when she was 7. We stopped by the side of the road and jumped out to take a picture. (A Texas tradiotion all it's own :) ) She was wearing a very pale yellow sundress. It just seemed to work. All the colors complimented and brought out the best in each other. The blue popped and still my girl stands out.
Maybe you could put her in a yellow simple spring dress. Or a really formal stiff petty coat dress. So cute on a 2 yr old, especially in an informal setting. Too adorable. I can picture him in blue jeans, cowboy boots and a pale yellow button down oxford. I mean, they are TEXAS Bluebonnets! But if he's not that country, you could still do the jeans and oxford.
