What Do You Have on Your Bed?

It's starting to get chilly around here, so I'm making rounds in the house changing out the bedding. We always have a bottom sheet and top sheet, but in the spring/summer we have a medium blanket on top, and in the fall/winter, I change the blanket out for our down comforter. That's it--no extra blankets between sheets, throws at the end of the bed, we keep it simple; sheet+blanket. I LOVE our down comforter (it's like sleeping in a cumulus cloud). Aside from our down blanket, I've never gotten into regular comforters though. I don't know why, but they always seem a little stiff and stale to me. Over all, we prefer to keep it simple. If it were up to my husband, he'd have a bottom sheet and a blanket, and that's it!!

What's on your bed?

@Grandma T.: We have 2 cats, and our down comforter looks great after 2 years. We have a duvet cover on it, so it stays protected. Our cats sleep on it sometimes, but they love it too, so they're pretty gentle on it. :)

What can I do next?

I have a down alternative comforter. I agree - sleeping in a cloud. There's nothing like it. I just bought some $25 pillows from kohls for $9 so, I have the comfiest bed in town. Now, I'm on the hunt for some decent priced sheets!!

Right now I have a big pile of clean laundry that needs to be put away. =)

Normally we have the fitted sheet, flat sheet, light blanket and light bedspread. In winter, I put on a heavy comforter instead of the bedspread since I don't put the heat on at all and still sleep with 2 fans on. =)

I have a ton of blankets. not for me..But for my hubby.

I have issues maintaining body temp....It is a side effect from eating disorder. So I can be sweating balls in a cold room. And freezing in a hot one. so to make sure I can keep it normal at night..I sleep with a fan at my feet. If my feet stay cold I dont have any issues.

I am just happy he understands why I have to sleep in a wind tunnel..and never complains!

Tracy K. Costco!! They have the most amazing sheets and decent thread count for the price!! I can not sya whether they will have them at a Costco near you(if you have them)...But check online and see they should tell you what is carried near you..But well worth it!!

Bottom sheet, hubby's regular queen sized comforter and my full sized down comforter. We've tried sleeping with a sheet but it just gets kicked to the ground. Neither of my kids likes top sheets either. We also keep the same blankets all year round because our house typically sits at the same temperature. We even use our flannel sheets in the summer..but man I sweat on those no matter what so I'm thinking those are heading to the trash!

I'm a 'bed snob'. I have fitted and flat sheet. One down pillow + one tempurpedic neck pillow for me. Husband has a tempurpedic neck pillow. And we have a HUGE bedspread. Our room is the warmest in the house [right next to the thermostat], but I keep a blanket just underneath the edge of the bed in case we get chilly.

I used to have a down comforter... That one is too small for our bed so my daughter has it on hers. Her room is the coldest in the house [furthest from the thermostat and has the longest run from furnace to vent].

We also have down comforters and would never go back to any other type of blanket. We have a bottom sheet and use cotton duvets that get washed each week. It's so nice to cuddle up in the down comforter, tuck it under your feet when your toes are cold, or stick your leg out when it gets warm. This is especially useful when you get to my age and have hot flashes and nightweats and you need to adjust your body temp. Synthetic blankets and clothing makes me sweat...!

We keep our house VERY cool - at night it's actually cold - but we are all toasty in our down comforters. As a matter of fact my son (who is very tall) now has a double bed and I have to buy a new comforter for him - I'm waiting for a really good sale - anybody know of one? I also need new duvets for both kids since they're been using the juvinile ones for quite a long time now. (I buy cheap poly comforters to use as a bedspread.)

We LOVE our down comforters! (and BTW - so do our cats!)

If it was just me sheet and blanket, unfortunately my husband loves the heavy weight of lots of blankets and heavy comforter. I usually end up kicking half off onto his side, which he is all for.

My daughter just sheet and blanket, she is just like me. The baby gets nothing but a sheet and a very heavy sleeper. :)

Summer = 100% Cotton Sheets, 400 thread count, no less, silk comforter with duvet cover. In July, I put our hand made Wedding Ring quilt made by his mother.

Winter = 100 % cotton flannel sheets with a heavier down comforter and duvet. I've had the same duvet and comforter for about 15 years. I have bought other duvets, nice ones, but I keep going back to my sage green 100% cotton duvet....I just can't part with it.

bottom sheet, top sheet and a light blanket for now. BUT my goal is to finally get me a down comforter for this winter. I have an awesome HUGE afghan my mom knitted that I usually use for winter but my cat is not trustworthy enough and I'm afraid she's going to ultimately ruin it.
Heck, she's the reason I havent bought a down comforter yet, I get the picture of feathers all over the place. She likes to knead, so it's worrisome.
Do any of you have cats and a down comforter that survives it?
Thanks for the cat answer. I'll be watching for the next comforter sale at Kohls ;)

Bottom sheet, comforter. I always kick off the regular sheet so why bother. And I switch to flannel in the winter - yummy warmth!

Fitted sheet, flat sheet, two quilts. In the winter we usually add another quilt. In the summer we have a light quilt. We have 6 or 7 pillows because I am a pillow junkie. My husband hates the top sheet but I insist on having it.

I have fitted sheet, flat sheet, my grandmas quilt that is fairly thin, and a thick comforter. But I sleep with all this on the bed year round. I just change the style of the top comforter and the color of the sheets. My hubby is a blanket hog lol.

We do a Down, sheet and blanket for the winter as we have a medium weight down so it's not quite warm enough by it's self in the winter. Love the down too!

Fitted sheet, down comforter(s) in duvets. I wash the duvets every week, and throw the down comforters in every other month. They're, gosh, eight and ten years old now?

Anyhow, 1 down comforter in the summer, 2 the rest of the year.

And pillows. Lots and lots of pillows. (they go in the wash every other month as well).
