I got a medium weight down comforter from Land's End and I would NEVER give it up! LOVE it! use it most of the year. With a duvet cover which is easily washed as needed.
That sounded funny.
Anyways, my beloved comforter is in shambles and I need a new one. :( It doesnt matter what it looks like because it will not be on my bed when its made, it just goes in our blanket trunk and no one will see it.
Have you recently found one that you loved and where'd ya get it? Thanks!!

We just bought new stuff at Kohls. I am sorta freaky about the feel of fabrics and such. I don't like anything fussy looking or feeling. I want to be able to USE it and for it to feel nice. No funky silvery threads to poke and itch or sequins or weird edging to worry about. I am also a contemporary styling person..clean lines..NO floral, no brown, etc.
We got a blanket (sort of a thinner quilted thing apparnetly is what is normal these days! LOL) and a comforter at Kohls from the Vera Wang collections. I love them..but they are quite warm! We are cold-bodies anyways (keep it 66* in daytime and set to drop to about 58* at night and I just can not sleep if its warmer, so just started having it on for more than a few hours a day just last week when we had frigid temps here in MN..and now its upper 30's weirdness again and my heat is OFF once more! UGH).
It was on sale, like everything is at Kohls, plus I had a 30% off. Still spendy I suppose, but I haven't had new stuff in about 10 years. It was time!
Yes! I have an amazing down alternative comforter I got at Kohl's on Black Friday for $29. It's tan on one side & chocolate brown on the other. I love, love, love it!
I'm a down girl.
I've had many types over the years, and I've grown very "brand" loyal to IKEA. Why? Great fill density, and sturdy as all get out. But 25% the cost of other down comforters with the same content (type of down) and fill. I buy a new one or two every year (for guests, doubling up for winter, when the stomach flu hits, to take camping, etc.), and the oldest ones are 8 years old. They stand up to being washed every other month, and are in great condition.
The duvets I use are ebay'd Calvin Klein, and those get washed weekly (we don't use top sheets or other blankets). I can't afford a $300 duvet, but the same duvet (discontinued, usually) for $50-75 I can swing!
Do not buy from Finger Hut. I bought a set last year. It was $69.00 on sale for $29.00. Thinking I was lucky and catching a good sale I bought it. It was a bed in bag with comforter, fitted and flat sheets, 2 pillow cases and a skirt. The picture looked great. I was so upset when I got it. It was paper thin. It was so cheaply made. Walmart makes better stuff!!
I have gotten some good stuff for my kids at Target. The quality is good and so are the prices.
Good Luck!

Fabulously warm and soft and light weight. Love it.
I LOVE my duvet. It's from Bed Bath & Beyond- nothing fancy, but lightweight and WARM! We did splurge and buy a nice Pottery Barn duvet cover. It is incredibly soft and after 5 years, no fading or discoloration (white and green striped).
My favorite ever is a down alternative. It was Q sized Ralh Lauren and I got it at Ross for $39!
Love love love my LaCrosse down comforter from The Company Store. It's not cheap, but it will last basically forever. (and they're having a 20% off sale today)
