Another one is hydrogene peroxide it helps get rid of the bugs. The warm water and salt is what I used and will probably use tonight.
Good answers.

My throat is on FIRE, I thought about using tea with honey, wondering what other moms use. My child is coughing so looking for other ideas as well.
Thanks
Thanks, it got better, we did strawberries, and she is old enough to have honey. I used RAW honey and it worked great. I also did apple cider vinegar, not a fan but it works. Nice to know I can always get answers from this site thanks!

It depends on how desperate you are. I was SO sick with SUCH a severe sore throat that I resorted to gargling apple cider vinegar. It wasn't as bad as it seems but you need to be desperate to try it. It did help for about 15-20 minutes at its worst which was better than ANYTHING else I'd tried at that point, including chloraseptic.
Cider vinegar will often help, you can drink a tablespoon or so straight or dilute with water and gargle. It tastes awful, but it works.
Oh, and it's really acidic (duh) so rinse your mouth with water afterward to protect the enamel on your teeth.
mix 1 cup apple vinegar with like a 1/4 cup or so of honey (to taste).
1 1/2 teaspoon fulls calm the cough.

We use lots of honey in this house as well as gargling with salt water. I'm a fan of vapor rub and of course humidifiers. Hope you get well soon.
I've heard recently that 50/50 mixture of cider vinegar and honey is a miracle.
Thankfully, I have not had to try this out for myself.
Couldn't hurt though, right?
my grown boys still clamor for my 'witch's tea' when their throats are sore. i use fresh garden sage, mint, a piece of candied ginger and a cinnamon stick, steep for about 10 minutes, then add a ton of honey.
it really is magic!
some sore throats are so awful, though, that the apple cider vinegar gargle is necessary. not fun, but effective. if that's the case, i do the gargle THEN the tea.
hope you feel better soon!

I always choose hard cinnamon candies over cough drops. I think cough drops taste horrible. The candy, even though it is a little spicy sweet feels good on my throat and keeps it moist. For my kids I give them orange juice, karo syrup or honey and suckers. It coats the throat and also helps with dry coughs too.
I also drink a lot of hot tea. I hope you feel better soon! I will have to try some of the other suggestions given.
I use Throat Coat tea.
I love Republic of Tea brand tea called Get Soothed. It does amazing things for a sore throat!! Also, sleep with a humidifier and keep your throat hydrated as that can add to the pain.
I had strep back in December, so for me, I sucked on zinc (either actual zinc or cold ease), honey, and it was even so bad that I took some motrin for it. I'm not a tea drinker so that is all I did. I hope you feel better soon!
Honey is wonderful for a cough but please remember not to give it to babies under 12 months as they can get infant botulism.
hot tea and chicken or beef broth.
Have you gone to the Doctor?
Strep?
Gargle with salt water. Few times a day.
hot tea with lemon & honey. The tannin in the tea soothes/heals, the lemon gives you Vitamin C, & the honey helps too. :)
a shot of Jack
a shot of brandy
or you could put the shot in the hot tea....which is my personal fav.
all of the above works for the adults in my family.
throughout my entire childhood, we had a lake house. We did not store meds over-winter, but my Dad always had a bottle of booze. It is amazing how one spoonful of booze calms the throat, the cough, & burns the "ick" out!
Honey for cough for kids. Works great! Also use a humidifier at night in his/her room. Vicks vapor rub on chest and/or back. For you, I find Tylenol works well for sore throats... AND if it's caused by post nasal drip, benedryl at night. Hope you all feel better soonn.
Gargle with warm salt water and eat popscicles.
Shaklee's Defend and Resist. You can let one of the tabs dissolve in your mouth or put it in tea.
have you tried any of those sprays for sore throat ..what are they called chloroseptic sprays? they work pretty good other than that halls cough drops work for me. i dont think kids can use that tho id go with childresn tylonal for your child
Liquid Tylenol works wonder.....so does glass of warm water with honey, ginger and turmeric......
Hope you feel better.
my mom used to make a hot drink with milk, honey and butter. I'm not sure it made anything feel better, but it sure tasted good! I make it for my daughter now. Sounds like it should coat the throat, right?
Chloraseptic
Unless it's strep. Then gargling with saltwater FIRST, chloraseptic second.
