What Does Your 7 Year Old Girl Play With?

My mom was over this weekend and wondered what my 7.5 year old daughter wanted for Christmas. I have no ideas so I am looking to you wonderful Mommies to see what your 7 year old girls play with? Thanks in advance :) After reading some of the responses I guess I should edit my request. My daughter LOVES art, science materials, Littlest Pets, Polly Pockets, Barbies, performing, reading, music (of course HM & HSM), and riding her bike or scooter. I am looking for new ideas (hard I know).

What can I do next?

Last year for Christmas I bought my niece one of those jewerly kits. She can make her own bracelet or necklace. Then she had fun showing all her friends what she made.

2 words Hannah Montana. there are dolls, movies, cds, clothes, and just about everything else you can think of. I don't know any little girls who don't like her. Also Jonas Brothers are very big.I have an almost 6 year old and she is crazy about this. Good luck.

You should watch your daughter closely and see what you see. What lights her up, what glazes her eyes over with indifference. And talk to her about what she likes. Every child is different. Out of the responses you got, only a few would have appealed to my daughter. Get to know her.

My 7 year old sounds a lot like these other girls. Hannah Montana, High School Musical, Camp Rock. She loves all the music so I set up an account on projectplaylist.com with all of her favorite songs. I will probably be getting her some CD's for Christmas. She also loves playing with her Baby Alive and American Girl. My daughter likes to journal and to do crafts (beads, pottery, etc.)

I would just ask her what she likes to do best and see what she says.

I have all boys so I don't really have any girl toys in my house. My cousin was visiting with her 7 year old daughter, and out of desperation we dug out a couple of jewelry boxes of our grandmothers old costume jewelry (she liked really gaudy stuff!) and a couple of my old prom/bridesmaid dresses that were in the back of my closet. Needless to say she had a blast with them and it kept her occupied for a couple of hours. I don't know if you go garage saleing at all. but it might be something to keep your eyes open for.

My two girls both play with baby dolls, play makeup sets, play jewelry, and dress up clothes. They are 8 & 9, but still love it. I think your daughter would too.

What my two daughters played with when most they were 7 and 8 was arts and crafts.... They both loved making things or painting things or putting stickers on things. Almost anything in the way of kits was a hit, and the hugest hit was a wooden box with a handle, with crayons, pastels, thin line markers, colored pencils, erasers, sharpener and watercolor paints. The ART BOX. We refill when things get low, and it is still used 5 years later. At seven, they outgrow some toys so quickly, that things that are fascinating on Tuesday are "for babies" on Friday. Good luck.

My daughter loves arts and crafts. Check out all the how to kits by Klutz on www.klutz.com or www.christianbooks.com (pom pom animals, pipe cleaner animals, and pot holder weaving loom are her favorites)

my 7 yr old LOVES all things Hannah Montanna, High school musical, and american girl (she has the emily doll and a bunch of the books that she's read). There are also american girl movies... I still catch her playing with her pollys and barbies. Making up stories about princesses and princes...

I would say to give g-ma 2 lists. One of what she LOVES and one of what YOU will not allow in your house. Possibly harmful to baby toys...(Brats dolls are on that list for me... Why would I want to give my DD something called a brat wearing skank clothes?lol )Then you don't have an issue later

Seven year old girls often like keeping house. Any cute little dolls or stuffed animals that can live in a box that she can make windows in or furniture or rugs could be a lot of fun. We like simple old fashioned toys. If you do too try NOVA naturals or Hearthsong. Good luck! We have six kids 3-14 and have found that a few good quality toys are much better than a boat load junky ones. Pick stuff you won't mind seeing around the house!

Sadly, it seems Bratz are the current favorite. Barbie always worked for me and my nieces and friends.

there's always the stores like the Discovery store or items that stimulate the imagination or learning that are good too. Just ask a clerk.

My daughters are now 10 and 8 but I found that you can never go wrong with art stuff, painting, drawing, coloring and even the knitting kits. It promotes creativity and also makes it so they are creating their own projects. It makes them so proud.
