What Is the Best Vomit Cleaner for Carpet?

My son threw up on our carpet a little while ago. My husband was the only one home at the time and he got out the steam cleaner to clean up the mess. The carpet dried, but you can still see the exact location of the vomit. I am wondering if it is maybe due to some stomach enzyme or acid. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to clean this? Especially now that it was steamed and then dried?

What can I do next?

I haven't tried this specifically on vomit but it has worked on everything else I have used. Good old everyday shaving cream (make sure it is the white stuff!) Wring out a wet washcloth over the spot you want to clean (make sure it gets the whole spot really wet. Spray on the shaving cream again make sure it is covered. Let it sit for about 5 minutes. Then, with the same damp washcloth dab at the stain. Good luck!

Spot Shot, availble at Costco is great. Also, oxyclean, like the other ladies suggested.

I use windex. I was on this site a few weeks ago, and read how someone else was giving another women the same advice. She said she had a person who cleaned carpets for a living, tell her to use it, and it worked great for her too. The person who told me about it, had a husband and three boys who worked in the oil field. So she knows how to get oil out of things. I hope it works for you too. Good luck.

Oxi Clean if it is very light colored carpet, otherwise there is something called Natures Miracle you can get at Petsmart, it is awesome stuff, works on human stains as well as pet.

I've used oxyclean and laundry detergent both with good results, but that was before it had dried.

I think I would try putting some of the oxyclean in the steamer and give that a shot...

Hi B.,
Although there are many cleaners on the market that work, many are plagued with chemicals and toxins. Most of the store brands that are mentioned leave toxins behind on your carpet, which is usually your child's playground.
May I suggest you consider the Non-toxic cleaner called Nature Bright that is offerred by Shaklee. Below is a link to this the info on the product on the website. I can give you add'l info on the product if you contact me.
Check out the business review from my customer Barb Baker. She swears by this product !
