What Is Your 10 Month Old Boy Eating?

I have a 10 month old DS who weighs about 20 1/2 lbs. He is breastfed, and eats about 25 or so ounces of BM a day ( I think). He is also eating about 4 TBS of cereal (mixed with fruit) about 4 TBS total of fruit, 2 TBS of meat, and 4-5 TBS of veggies a day. All of this is in purees. He is also getting a small piece of toast (a strip), or banana or cheerios, or something like that to practice finger feeding. But he obviously doesn't get much like that.

I keep reading conflicting info on how much he should be consuming right now, especially in the way of solids. How about your baby? What are the kiddos in tis age and weight range eating out there? TIA, Mommies!

What can I do next?

Both of my boys right at the 9 month stage went straight to table food. I did and am breastfeeding, as well. My 2.5 yr old didn't want to have ANYTHING to do with baby food. Unfortunately I can't remember what I did exactly with him in terms of how much he ate etc. Each baby is different, but my 2nd son is all about porking out! He loves to eat

He's 10.5 mth old is about 22lbs and he eats pretty much everything we eat (except milk & citrus stuff). He gets 3 meals a day & 2 snacks. And I give him a 4 oz sippy cup of water that lasts him all day. I pretty much just nurse him before bedtime & naptime. Days where he eats more table food during the day are the days, I found he nurses a lot more at night :)

For example this morning I gave him a small bowl of oatmeal, peaches and toast with fruit preserve on it. Snack he had a few puffs & ritz crackers. Lunch he had some banana bread I made, avocado, peas & yogurt. Dinner he had a modified burrito (legumes still give him gas) shredded cheese, whole wheat tortilla torn up, olives, green peppers and mushrooms..weird I know, but it was pretty good.

Usually he loves everything I give him. There are a few times where he saw what we were eating and threw a hissy fit. We had spaghetti the other night. I just gave him plain noodles & meat & veggies. Apparently that wasn't good enough. He wanted it with the sauce. So I gave in and devoured it. He was in heaven. Although, he did break out in a diaper rash from the sauce.

I say just go with the flow, and make sure he doesn't have any reactions. I asked my ped if I should be feeding him this much. He said feed the poor kid, if he's hungry. Always go with their lead. So I did and its going great. Good luck there is no one perfect answer, just what works for you and your LO!!

Seriously, there is conflicting info out there. Every child is different. It sounds like your child is eating what is right for him. Some days, like around the day of their birth each month, they may need more because they are hitting growth spurts.

One of the worst things out there in this world with experts and loads of books and so much information is that mothers second guess themselves so much that they stop believing in their own instincts. It sounds like you are doing great. You baby is eating good foods.

I always just let my kiddos eat as much as they wanted. Both are thin and tall and they ate completely differently. My daughter ate us out of house and home and my son has never had much of an appetite. Just feed him and he'll let you know when he has had enough.

My 16 lb, 9 mo old is getting his last pureed foods (finishing off pantry/processor) along with table foods like plain Greek yogurt, apple sauce, broccoli, Cheerios, nectarines, banana, avocado, turkey, chicken, toast, watermelon, blueberries, sweet potatoes, pears, green beans, cheese, etc. He still gets some cereal and will always get an occasional jar of prunes. I had Chicken Picatta today for lunch and he shared. Tomorrow he gets egg yolk an cottage cheese is on the list soon-after. Oh, he is still BF too, but enjoying all the new flavors. He is a lean baby, so I have just stepped up to 3 solid meals a day and offer him about the equivalent of 1 cup at each sitting, still along with all the BM he wants. He decides when to stop and I listen. I think moms usually know best and can easily follow cues of our babies. Have fun!

my little girl eats whatever I give her- from the table. She is 11 months and has been eating table food since 9 months. She prefers "grown up" food over the jars of food and will not touch the cereals. Start giving him tiny bites of table food and just pay attention when he eats. Unless the child has a disorder or is raised in a house with an adult with food phobias, he should be good to stop eating when he's full. My daughters never binge on food and I give them food till they stop eating. I don't keep track of how much they eat, though.....
