What the Sam Heck Is My Cat Doing??

I've had at least one cat at all times of my life and this is the first time I've had 2 at the same time. Their names are Tinsel & Garland, both are long haired gray females. Tinsel constantly eats our throw blankets, literally, she eats the fuzz off of them. And Garland just recently started licking the outside of the toilet bowl and the speakers to the stereo system. They both can do these for a solid hour. Are they maybe lacking in some sort of vitamin that can be found in fuzz, and speaker dust? :) I know this sounds a little weird, but why are they doing this and does anyone else have cats that do this sort of weird ritual?

What can I do next?

I'm not sure what's up with your cats, but I one had a cat that would literally eat the plastic milk rings. Go figure.. I think all cats have their quirks.

Okay, had alot of cats in my time. Hubby says no know, we have 3 dogs. But I can tell you cats love to groom, esp. long haired ones and they will groom each other or their owners as long as the smells are right and they love the person. Perhaps the blanket has the right smell or they are grooming it for you. The speaker..........well animals are strange beings sometimes and maybe because it 'talks' and has the feel of a beat (vibrations) to it this one thinks it needs a bath.... hopefully harmless silly feline activity. Good Luck!

I would recommend calling around to different Veterinarian's to get their advice. Sometimes, it is suggested by the vets to bring the pets in for evaluation and testing. If that is the case, and money is a factor, than you can go to different pet food stores, and hopefully ask, and receive free advice from the vet's there, on what the reason for the cats daily habits. Hopefully the vet will solve the problem.

Hi Jodi

I have 2 sisters cats and one of them will 'knead' into my knit blanket while sucking on it. The other does not. I am not sure what it is and why she does it.

While growing up we had cats too and had a male who did the kneading and sucked on fleece blankets.

I have no advice, but I do have weird cats too. LOL

Jodi~cats have some wierd habits. The one cat that is eating the fuzz next time you are at the vet have her thyroid checked. My cat started eating fuzz and hair off the floor and it turned out she had hyper-thyroid disease. As for the other cat maybe there is something that taste good. Have a good day.
